BLM in the Oak Park Il area what has changed since 5 years ago?

Funny five years later now Oak Park River Forest is all “black lives matter” when five years ago the parents of the local school were upset their white children were excluded from protest activities back then.
Those protests were and are still black individuals expressing their experiences not for non minority based individuals to express their opinions upon these experiences or to downplay these stories told in conjunction with the movement (black lives matter).
Although people change in attitude and do reverse their opinions about certain issues they were first critical of. But, the difference between then and now was back then the protests were just very peaceful without the majority of looting that the area experienced of late. With the threat of looting and extremists at protests more people under the threat of socioeconomic destruction people are listening and taking in the seriousness of this issue.
Whatever the reason for the change a realization due to compassion or fear of the world we all really live in. I think I rather stay woke when listening to what the village, from the government to the police department to its residents has to say regarding this movement. To ignore these facts, the stories, the individuals that have faced systemic racism for so long and to finally, pop out of one’s little bubble with this new enlightenment will also take a long time to accept. Not only to accept these people as allies but also that they really are firm and steadfast in this new belief. If it is all because it is the new fad or politically correct? Maybe it is because now that they have to face it, their true colors are shown due to no longer having a choice or having a crisis of conscience?
For some residents and areas these protests are coming to them for the first time. So now with this new experience coming to their front door many who believe that they are exempt or safe from this movement, this issue and all the discussions regarding equality are thrown into it. And for many, they will still not care, or try to run further away from such activities like generations before.

So Hate does have a home in Oak Park-River Forest!!!

Now I did not want to say anything about this altercation in River Forest, Il until all the facts came in. BECAUSE you know how people get “this video does not show everything that happened” or “Lets wait for all the facts” But as I said before there is huge racism at play in the local area’s real estate/property management market. And to illustrate that point was the idiot who started a racial tinged altercation at the River Forest Jewel with a woman of color.

Now, before you say, “that is just one person” fucking please. This dude was just overt with his shit. There are plenty of people who are just covert with it or they hide behind “this came from the top not me…” When bullshit Karen its 100% you. I have copied the River Forest Police Department’s Facebook statement below (in case you hate Facebook, like I do) and as per the news and the statement this “gentleman’ was not only the instigator, there were MULTIPLE witnesses to the parts not seen by the video and as you can see by his picture has no remorse.

If this gentleman is acting like this at a Starbucks, you can only imagine this dude when conducting real estate deals that include People of Color (POC). I hope that everyone (POC) who has dealt with this man and had a real-estate deal gone astray for some odd or fishy reason comes back to make a complaint against him. The village of Oak park, Il and River Forest, IL should also look into his business practices as a result of this incident. But that’s if they are only truly wanting to put money to all the shit they are talking about equality.

I extremely doubt that after a plea deal which he does not deserve from hitting a woman, that the local law enforcement will push punishment any further.  Nowadays there is a need for a clean cut example that this behavior is not tolerate, fuck that “sorry” shit, because this dude has handed everyone a clear opportunity to set things right. Hopefully the village of River Forest will have balls to take it.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged River Forest resident Robert Palley (61) with one count of a Hate Crime and one count of Aggravated Battery (Public Place) after an incident in the Jewel parking lot on Wednesday morning.

The Cook County Felony Review Unit recommended the charges after an investigation by the River Forest Police Department and prosecutors.

Mr. Palley is alleged to have committed a battery against a female, African-American woman in the parking lot of a Jewel Foods store (7525 W. Lake St.) following a verbal exchange that, according to the victim and witnesses, was racially-motivated.

During the course of its investigation into the altercation between Mr. Palley and the victim, River Forest Police investigators sought felony charges against Mr. Palley for his role in the incident.

Mr. Palley will participate in an online bond hearing this afternoon.

“We have no tolerance for hate in River Forest,” said River Forest Village President Cathy Adduci. “We appreciate and support the thorough work of our River Forest Police Department as well as the cooperation of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office to hold those who engage in criminal activity that is motivated by hate fully accountable. And, we applaud the witnesses that helped the investigators determine the facts in this case so that felony charges could be brought against this individual. Finally, we’re pleased that officials from Jewel-Osco cooperated immediately by providing video footage, which helped us move forward quickly on this case.

River Forest Public works project-Oak Park, Il related

The great thing about this River Forest Public works project is that it will put a couple of traffic sign improvements to the Lake and Thatcher intersection. Adding some turn signals to this intersection is a welcomed change. There are some are other intersections in the village of Oak Park, IL that could use this common sense. But being River Forest, IL they are singular but combined to Oak Park, IL it seems only for educational crap.

When you go down Thatcher Avenue it is a freaking fantastic, I mean you literally speed through from North Avenue to Lake Street without all the idiot restrictions that you get growing through Oak Park, IL. The traffic signals will hopefully ease the backup when there is rush hour.

Here is the link that briefly discusses the traffic signals at this intersection:

On leave….

Well think what you may a person is innocent until proven guilty. Of course not in Oak Park, IL when a teacher is given a “leave” under “unspecified allegations” ..wow.  Great wording so if the person is guilty, we think “knew it” because such wording strengths our bias, if they are innocent this statement still affirms that the person is guilty of something. And when it comes to kids we always think the worse i.e.: referencing gossip in a letter to parents always helps create MORE gossip than it should.

It seems to me that is how Oak Park, IL deals with a situation like this: 1. tell everyone not to gossip, 2. keep everyone in the dark and 3. then go on like nothing has happened… these are the leaders making decisions to help educate the next generation people! Racism in the school? Let’s shoot out a letter saying there’s no racism in Oak Park, IL, then everyone, move on. Poof problem solved. Not saying the teacher is guilty or not, but this does not help with this situation or if any scenario any of us thought of in regard to this person being placed on leave in the future. I mean, it could something as tedious as lying about certification, to knocking little old ladies down in the park. Fueling the imagination and dealing with it in an unprofessional manner does not help the situation at all. But rarely in Oak Park, IL when the shit the fan does anyone act with any sense. Of course, we may say that happens anywhere, but that too also adds to the problem not solve it.

Here is the link discussing briefly about the “leave”:

River Forest is bringing in the Rambos.. to kill deer

River Forest is gonna kill bambi and its mother in the latest public relations snafu for the village’s partner in crime. Instead of capturing the deer and possibly releasing them elsewhere we will have a bunch of Rambos shooting them to death. Of course, there are no normal predators to eliminate the excess deer but there is no need to kill them, right? Capture and release sounds like a bleeding-heart alternative but think of it as making sure that a population does not become stagnant due to knee jerk relations of short-sighted administrations.

Funny how the decision goes straight to killing when property values are at stake, which in the end is the moral fortitude of these two villages connected together, just plain pitiful. Money as become the motivator behind every decision that the administrations of these two villages make. All the while operating under guise of some beaming light on the hill, above all reproach, with some type of superhero moral center that cannot be compromised. But when property is damaged then these villages go on the warpath ready to eliminate anyone or anything that stands in the way of making a buck or increase property values.

Now, that is not to say that getting rich, nor increase or maintaining property values is a bad thing. At this point it seems like it is now the only thing that matters. Regression of moral standards making the villages just other bunch of organizations moneygrubbing for more cash to grab up, willing to do the extreme if its cost effective and morally bankrupt. River Forest and Oak Park go hand in hand with their ability to look the other way, making both less than what they are. Now, being just “another community” with this issue and instead of maintaining the moral high ground it likes to espouse these Bonnie and Clyde villages will wallow in the muck while saving a buck.

Oak Park, IL related: LemonAid event in River Forest 2017

I did not know that there was a lot of chaos as I drove through River Forest you know the Thatcher avenue express the quickest way to maneuver around Oak Park, IL to main streets that surround it without the hassle of all the traffic and chaos that “No Park” brings. What I did pass by was on Bonnie Brae the annual LemonAid event that the local kids do each year to raise money each year for a good cause.

It is a great event for two reasons first to me in remembrance of 9/11 it is a great way to do something positive on a day that was created through violence. Second, these kids and the organizers are doing something that is for a good cause the Kidz Express. This Kidz Express is a nonprofit that helps kids in the South Austin area, the fact this charity is doing something for kids “across the divide” of Austin Avenue is fantastic.

I have always complained that Oak Park, IL officials should try to reach out and assist the residents of the Austin Area because it would be in the best interest of the suburb as well as the Austin Area. But here you have a bunch of kids and nonprofit organizers leading the charge which the village government should be doing.

This was the 16th Annual LemonAid event so most likely there will be a 17th annual event with River Forest naming Bonnie Brae in honor of this group’s work with an honorary “LemonAid Place” sign there with be hopefully a chance in upcoming years for all of us to help sponsor this event in the future.

Here is the article that discusses the event:

RE: Concordia University Chicago Employee Reviews On Indeed.com

Concordia University Chicago Employee Reviews On Indeed.com is an interesting post from one of my friends on Google Plus, regarding one of the institutions in the area and how they are presented on Indeed.com. Since it is in River Forest, Il and that village with Oak Park, IL share a community bond I decided to post it on here.

For your viewing pleasure:

It is pretty hilarious and in the same vein of commentary that I have on my blog about Oak Park, IL. This post talks about the negative reviews of Concordia University Chicago and how their negative atmosphere can affect students and how it already affects its employees, sound familiar?

Oak Park, IL OPRFHS Sexual assault pt 2

Since there is no help coming from the Oak Park police department who marginalized a reported sexual assault that happened back in August, tired of the runaround one of the students got active and posted a petition on Change.org to address the issue. This just brings to light more allegations of sexual misconduct which who knows if they have been addressed by The Oak Park Police Department, as with my case with my crazy neighbor. It seems that the OPPD do not take such things seriously, maybe the petition on Change.org will bring create an atmosphere of professionalism from the Oak Park Police Department. Because seriously kids raping kids is just terrible and even if there is an allegation no matter how slim there should be some time of increased attention to this issue.

Even the local “newspapers” her raise questions about the creation of a rape culture at the high school, and as with any resident in Oak Park, Il it makes one wonder how long has this been going on? If we know that there were at least “several” other offenders involved with this allegation why are they still allowed to go to school with other potential victims? With the other allegations, what has happened with those offenders are they still involved with Oak Park River Forest High School?

Also if the school is waiting for the Police Department to complete their investigation how are they handling the integration of these offenders into the general student population at the school? What new methods or procedures is the school going to put into place to protect future victims of sexual assault in the future? It seems to me that both entities (OPPD and OPRFHS) are to blame in keeping this culture continuing, not to mention the offenders involved. And the kids are only going to follow the direction of the grownups and those who are in charge and deliver out the consequences of their actions if there are no immediate consequences then why should they worry or change? So if Oak Park, Il is interested in creating a bunch of rapists they are doing a good job! Ha! Oak Park, IL created cul da secs decades ago because they feared the crime from the Austin area spilling into their little community, probably because they wanted to create a culture of veil on their own!

Here is the article from the local newspaper that brings up more questions regarding this incident:

Here is the Change.org petition sign off against the rape culture that the Oak Park River Forest High School is inept in protecting and the Oak Park Police Department is slow to putting an end to:

Fu(king Rude kids stepping on my feet in Oak Park, IL

I see that there is a spike in crime around Oak Park, IL so I wonder why do parents let their kids walk around without teaching them to focus their attention upon their environment instead of their I-pad or I-phone? God, I sound like my father! But you have seen tons of these kids just walking down the street, oblivious to the world around them. I drive down the street and these kids are simply walking across the street nearly getting hit because they (and the driver) are not paying attention.

In a time when grown adults are getting beaten for their electronics on the Blue Line “L” you would think the parent of Oak Park, IL would tell their kids a thing or two about the world. There is no need to racially profile because color is not equal to the deciding if an individual is a criminal or not. Just a couple of minutes of telling these kids that they need to pay attention as they walk down the street, so that their kids do not become a statistic.

I had one kid walk straight down the street towards me, I walked a little left so did they, walked right they walked right, all the while looking down into their I-phone. Of course ,they nearly walked into me, as if they saw me for the first time, my first thought was if this was a scene out of a movie I probably just got pickpocketed! But no alas they did not even know I was there. I have seen kids walk down the street with their parents having to tell them to look up or pay attention.

I have even been stepped on by a little teenager in the Walgreens on Lake street because the little girl was skyping on her phone, I mean come on! I know it’s your status “symbol” but there is no need to: 1. Step on me, 2. Be skyping about your private conversation in a public place loudly, 3. Step on me 4. Not pay attention to your immediate environment and 5. Step on me! Now, I am all about social media but I do not want to get a beat down because I was that easy a target, or that I made the device that enticing to some nutcase.

Now yes, you should be able to walk down the street without worrying, in theory, but with the way Chicago has become crime central, who has nine lives to put that theory to the test? Parents in the area need to tell their kids to put their devices away and pay attention especially to people who are just walking down the street or are walking down the same aisle in the store as they are. I doubt this would happen because the residents, the parents of these special mini-mes are drinking the Kool-Aid Oak Park, IL is serving.

Believing that this is one of the safest places in the area and probably the world is not reality nor does it not help these young’uns to enter the real world. All this acceptance of false safety, acceptance of public display of one’s wealth or withdrawal from the rest of one’s immediate environment just leads to increased chance for their children to become a crime statistic. At the end of the day, I hope these kids learn their lesson the easy way, instead of the hard way, and quit stepping on my ass.

Am I alone seeing the kids of Oak Park, Il walking around focusing on nothing but the electronic device (I-phone, phone, I -pad, etc.,)? Have you been stepped on or ran into but these little omniscient gnomes of travel?

Racial Profiling in Oak Park, IL part 2

As I was reading this opinion piece regarding racial profiling I looked below at the comment section and got a huge headache. Well, because the spirit of what is wrong with Oak Park, IL just shined on through not like a piercing light but like a nuclear bomb on the ignorance that Oak Park, IL is so entrenched here. My signature eyebrow went up like “wtf?” and I had to post a retort that as of writing this Oakpark.com did not post.

That is alright they can to censor exercises in freedom of speech as much as they want, Oak Park, Il is no longer the gem of the suburbs as it once was and it is due to comments like the one I will mention. This type of comment makes you scratch your head and think “what are they getting at..” but man you already know it is that unspoken confirmation of a fact that you know in your heart is true, and providence has shined a light down from the heavens to confirm its existence.

No, I do not mean the comment about “You’re right. It’s hard to know where to begin..” now there might have been a rash of robberies in the area of Ulta and the person mentioned could be of the same color, therefore everyone in the area is suspicious or on high alert. Does that make it right? No, but I can see why the commentator states what was the cause to this effect. Meaning, what is spring this event, is it because yes all the players are inherently racist and need to be welcomed into the 21st century of social justice and equality or the comment eludes to a narrative of “how do we fix this situation?” When I read this comment I can get with that, kudos to the author of that comment, let us have a positive discussion regarding this social injustice.

However, it is the other comment which drips with the attitude that does not make reading this opinion piece easy: “do you think it’s possible they had a history with this guy that had nothing to do with his race?” Really??? This type of comment makes me wonder how do you get to people who do not understand that this type of mindset is wrong. This is the type of mindset that is everywhere here in Oak Park, IL a type of unspoken community hoping back for the good old 1950’s where every street was as big as your hand, people fell in line with the community’s edicts, and especially fell in line with their “role” in the caste system existing here, presently.

A history? If there was a history with the gentleman being racially profiled in the event, he would be in the squad car, not out in the open, being asked questions by law enforcement. This implication means that he must “have done something wrong” in the past and that is why they are treating him this way now, this is the basis for racial profiling. America is the place where, yeah we gossip like hell on the blogs and rest of the internet about someone (i.e.: cyberbullying) but you are always, always innocent until proven guilty.

This commenter forgot that fact, I cannot speak on this author’s experience with this type of issue, but I bet they have “black friends” as a way to excuse this lapse of self-exposure, how they REALLY think. Unfortunately, it is how a lot of the people in Oak Park, Il think and have gotten away with it for so long, it is really a shame but this type of behavior is why no one wants to be here and the repetition of Oak Park, IL has taken a hit.

It is probably the reason they are asking the residents about diversity -who cares?? Especially if like in this case what is said is here is how the residents really feel, which is in direct contrast of Oak Park, Il’s message of inclusiveness, the message falls upon deaf ears, because no one wants to stay someone where they cannot park their car on a public street, nor get treated equally like their neighbors.

I truly wonder if this commentator has any children that this has happened to, were they followed around a store, where they stopped by police and asked multiple questions regarding their purpose in the area? I wonder if they would change their tune then or would they still state that “you must have a history with him” or “he must have done something wrong” and yes there are parents who say that! But I just wonder if the author f that comment really put themselves in someone else’s shoes would that comment exist, or are they so closed off from this ever changing world they do not see the problem with such a statement?

Here is the article in question, troll as you will:

Pendley, Gabrielle Brady (2016) “Racial profiling is not OK … anywhere” Oakpark.com
