Modern Construction will eliminate “Vintage” wiring in Oak Park, IL

I cannot believe that the local government agencies allow apartment buildings in the Oak Park area to have such crappy electrical set ups for their buildings. I mean there are outlets from the 1950s or maybe 1930s it’s just ancient compared to today’s standards or the new construction that is occurring in downtown Oak Park. It is so scatterbrained, it is like the village is waiting for a major fire to happen before having on a set of standards.

Of course, these vintage set ups are still allowed because renters buy into the illusion that Oak Park’s culture and acceptance into the area’s community is just to “roll with” it. However, this illusion is now being challenged by the new buildings being built in the area, it shows that the new residents are not accepting these old-fashioned standards. In fact, today’s technology of temperature controls, surge protector outlets, and low wattage lights are all pieces of the environmentally friendly message that Oak Park, Il espouses to masses.

But again, the massive contradiction that is Oak Park, Il there is this environmental holier than thou message or fantasy that is pushed by those disillusional hippies here only to be dashed by the reality of the two prolog outlets that pop up in the various dwellings here in Oak Park, Il. The two standards cannot exist side by side, and the more younger renters that come into the village the louder, the more the voices that will request, that will demand newer standards.

The demand for new technology for dwellings to become environ mentally friendly will become prevalent. Change is inevitable for Oak Park, Il and I for one cannot wait to see it happen. The more people who speak up for modern technology the more likely we will be seeing the end of “vintage” wiring in Oak Park, Il.

Oak Park, IL blog: The “Master key murder” episode supports what I have said before

I was recently watching the ID channel series called the “Nightmare Next Door”, and there was this one episode called “master key murder” that illustrated one of the issues I had with Oak Park apartments. In a previous blog post, I mentioned I had a master key that opened every door in my apartment building, and how after I found out I received nothing but resistance in trying to change the locks too (at least) my apartment.

Well, this episode from the series “Nightmare Next Door”, a promising young woman is hacked into pieces by her crazy stalking neighbor who… Had a master key to the entire apartment building. At one point, not on did he steal condoms from his neighbors but also had a pair of used (had DNA on it) panties from the victim.

Of course, this was only found out with police searched his apartment but it proves my point that sick ass individuals are out there doing the exact same crazy shit I was worried about. The same stuff that Oak Park Apartments representatives thought I was being silly about or just being dramatic about. Those dumb bitches have no clue about how serious an issue, of having a “floating” master key is.

This crime on illustrates why property management companies, should be extremely careful with individual apartment keys, master key, and all their copies. Plus, anyone who rents should watch this episode or research this tragic case to get a heads up. When I moved to my new place I made sure I got new locks on the main door and had extra locking systems put into place so I can be safe from all the freakin creeps out there. The ones Oak Park Apartments think do not exist.

Real Quick-Moved but still in Oak Park, IL

Real quick in a new place, still in Oak park, Il ugh. When you move I highly recommend that you get a quality moving company I didn’t this time and paid the price That explanation is for another time though. Also, one matter what the new landlord, management company says, go in early be for you move in and bug bomb that bitch. If the landlord already has an exterminator come, this only assists it in keeping vermin out.
Also, I have signs printed up and laminated for the bigger items, like the entertainment center, bed, dresser, love seat, couch, etc. And place them where I want the item to go in the new apartment. This way I did not have to hand hold the idiots who destroyed my beloved dresser. Ugh.
Another tip is that I have twine and door stoppers to hold open doors for easy access for the movers, the faster they are done the faster you get to unpack. This leads to the other tip I have, making sure you have two outfits, iron and ironing board unpacked and ready to go, because it may take a couple of days before you are up and running. It takes time to get a place set up right, and by that time you are ready to move again.

How Open Houses are run by Oak Park Apartments part 2

These cock suckers from Oak Park Apartments are pure assholes. Just so you know that when you sign a lease and THEY decide not to renew or want to show YOUR apartment when your neighbor’s apartment is a fucking cesspool they will send you an email as a notice. A notice of the fucked-up intentions to walk through your place at ANY time of the day during their so called “Open House” this means do not wake up late and try to sleep in because you can awaken to strange people standing over you looking at the dimensions of your bedroom.

You can be in the shower washing the sweat off you because you know, summer is hot, and walk into a bunch of would-be renters and their kids. After Oak Park Apartments sends you the email notice they DO NOT have to call to see if you are in, or taking a shit in your bathroom, they can just walk in and show people your place. They do NOT give you notice 15 minutes before THAT IS A LIE.

This is an example of the email they send out it is full of shit:

Hello!

I am writing to let you know that we will be hosting an Open House tomorrow, June 24th from 10am-4pm during which we may need to show your apartment to prospective tenants.  We will notify with at least 15 minutes notice tomorrow should we need to come over.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your cooperation.

Thanks again,

One time my friend Sarah was in my shower and one of their representatives was just unlocking the door to walk right in with a couple. I had the chain lock on ha! So, that stopped that shit, but he was still was trying to come in with his Arabian ass with the chain lock on! LOL, I told him to give me a couple of minutes because there is someone in the shower. Also, I did not receive a notification 15 minutes beforehand, he responded that the office sent out the email.

Like that was it, well I told him through the Door crack with this couple standing there “..and it said you are supposed to give a 15-minute notice too. So, my friend is butt naked in the shower if you come in now I will have to call the police for peeping and unlawful entry (due to not contacting us 15 minutes beforehand). He responded, “Oh I will come back then…” No shit. And then when they came in I watched then like hawks and Sarah was blazing a hole in this fucker’s head.

In the end, if you rent from Oak Park Apartments and get a notice about them showing your apartment to “prospective tenants” keep your phone on, keep the chain lock on, and saddle up for some ignorant shit.

How Open Houses are run by Oak Park Apartments part 1

Okay, I stated that I was moving, therefore, I got an email from Oak Park Apartments about a so called “Open House” this is where they just come in anytime time of the day to show your apartment and let people rummage through your stuff to check shit out. I Literally had a guy opening kitchen drawers and looking at my silverware giving commentary.

When you sign a lease with these pure assholes. THEY dictate how and when they show the apartment you have no say whatsoever so make sure if you have family and friends from out of town or major surgery you are staying somewhere else on the days and times THEY choose.

Now you may say oh if they give a 24-hour warning it’s good that’s the law.. true. However, if you state as part of any legal agreement like a lease that you will inform the renter before (15 minutes before) that you will come bouncing through. Well, you have to give 15-minute notice that you are bouncing through the end of story. Oak Park Apartments does not even follow that regulation that they wrote themselves.

In fact, they come 10 minutes before the end of the showing day, YES! At 7:50 pm and have people just “take a quick look” asses. I know one time they paid for it and I was out the night before and took a massive dump. Well shit, give me more than a day’s notice to have me detoxic fuckers! LOL I had the worse gas too! It was hell for the “prospective tenants” to check the place out and I do not care.

This is an example of the email they send out it is full of shit:

You also have to WATCH theprospective tenants” yourself because the Oak Park Apartment representatives either show multiple couples at one time or they take a couple and give them free rein without guiding them through the place like an experienced management company or realtor would. So, you know you have people not just opening closets to see the amount of space involved you can have people looking into your personal dresser. I had some underwear missing (seriously) later on when I did laundry. So, I used moving/packing tape to tape my dresser drawers shut and got a fire safe for my important papers and jewelry every time there is an open house.

Of course, that was after the underwear thief had my shit and probably ran around town smelling them, with their chick looking at more “prospective” place to live. But now I have to explain that to “prospective tenants” when they come in and see the tape LOL not my problem. Oak Park Apartments should train their people better and teach them the do’s and don’ts of showing a rental unit during an Open House.

In the end, if you rent from Oak Park Apartments and get a notice about them showing your apartment to “prospective tenants” tape your shit up, hide your valuables in a small safe or lock box, and saddle up for some ignorant shit.

Oak Park, IL is averse to hardware stores especially when you need it.

Ugh, so good news the place I want to move too is basically being held for me. Plus, it’s not in Oak Park. Bad news the person who is in it now signed a year lease last week, so I am moving out of Oak Park apartments bullshit. To another place for 11 months in Oak Park, this week so I have everything in boxes. Plus my homie Sarah who has set up the place for me in Berwyn (Berwwwyn!) is getting surgery this week on Friday.

Although I lose a helper for the move I am glad she will get this fibroid thing taken care of. Meaning I am taking the Friday and 30th off, my boss is cool with because they know my situation with Oak Park apartments and would help me put holes in the walls with a sledge hammer if I didn’t want my deposit back. That is also why this post is late tons of shit to do, not enough time. I also noticed besides the ace hardware near Chicago Avenue and Harlem Avenue, what real handyman stores are in Oak Park, Il?

Fulfilling its pussy like image Oak Park, IL does not have that many hardware stores in the village boundaries, as if the most superficial person in the world laid the village out. It’s like the village forces you to get a contractor even to put up a picture on the wall. I had to go to the Home Depot in Bridgeview for boxes for my shit it was ridiculous but well worth it.

I look upon buying these boxes (heavy duty) as an investment for the next time I move. I will already have sturdy, extra boxes so that I am not fucking around at the last moment. But packing this shit to basically go a couple of blocks is fucking crazy. But don’t worry I have more stories about Green Plan management and Oak Park apartments to write. They suck so bad there are plenty of things to bitch about. Peace

One question to ask before renting in Oak Park, IL

The purpose of providing a lease is to make sure that it I understood what are the responsibilities of the renter and the responsibilities of the rentee. Basically, as the renter, I do not trash their apartment and the building management provides security and maintenance. I wish that the team here would take that agreement to heart. When I first saw, the apartment was painted white, white I tell you and the light reflected so well, that the place looked twice the size. Then they painted it a middle gray WITHOUT telling me, which fucked up the entire color scheme of new furniture, made the place look two times as small, and is really motherfucking depressing at times if I did not have a great stash of liquor to get me through living here.

When I signed the lease, I was under the impression that the color would remain the same and I would get a cheery place to live, but this is Oak Park, IL, therefore, pardon my ignorance at the time, I did not know that the management company of Oak Park Apartments would go to that extreme of making my new home that “unhomely”. I believe the frustrating thing is that this idiotic crap was one of those things that are never mentioned in any list when creating a list of questions when apartment hunting.

The bright cheerful apartment that was the centerpiece of what I focused my new furniture around then was a total clusterfuck when I moved in. I mean a cherry red loveseat with bland gray walls? Ugh, the place looks like I am colorblind or have no sense, taste at all. I asked about all the ”points” mentioned in an Apartment renting survival guide I found online alas this was one question I did think of: “If you are re-painting the apartment what color will it be?” This seems to be a frivolous question however after living in this bland gray and depressing apartment and understanding how color can affect a person’s mood, furniture choices and other apartment related issues. So definitely ask!

Here is the article that has the guide I discussed previously:

Parking in Oak Park, IL is made to be more complex that it should be.

The crazy thing is, with parking in Oak park, Il is that the village and residents make it more complex than it needs to be. I have scanned a set of directions that the village gave me for parking in the area in which I paid a permit for. Once you paid for the village sticker and the three-month area sticker, they gave you instructions that seemed like some type flight or video game instructions. It just makes things way more complicated why not just have posted signs in the area?

It is bad enough you have to move your car after 10 pm and park in the depot, then move it back to the main area after 8 am. Which if you work second shift anywhere you are in hell, why not just let people who paid for the sticker just stay there?

Then you got residents that act like the village has not pimped out that area in the first place. Coming out and “claiming” parking areas that the permission for parking has already been sold to other parties. Instead of raising hell with the drivers who only rent there, as a permanent resident, it makes sense to raise hell with the village.

Not with people who have no ties to the area, and who hold a grudge like forever. Take a look at the crazy instructions for a good laugh, although other burbs and downtown Chicago have parking rules not as bad as Oak Park, Il.

My Crappy backdoor lock to my Apartment In Oak Park, IL part 2

With the video, my buddy took of the “moving” lock of my back door which I have posted it on Youtube.com. For the second reason, why I post it was so that those who want to move into any of the buildings in Oak Park, Il can see the lackluster job that that this building management company has done in terms of the security for their renters.

As you can see the door is an old-fashioned wood panel door with half the door made of a window frame inlet. Meaning the construction of this door was great for maybe the 1940’s or 1950’s but in today’s society, such a door cannot withstand the criminal, their intent, and a well-placed kick or rock.

Entry into the apartment is frankly easy, even though there is a piece of plastic (1/4) over the window frame it still has areas of vulnerability that needs to be addressed. That having a moving top (main) lock does not solve or help the situation. In fact, it looks like a couple hits from a hammer and a screwdriver to this lock and anyone can get in. With the neighbor downstairs sanding and causing so much racket, none of the other neighbors or myself would hear a burglar forcing their way through this crappy ancient door.

I mentioned it to the guy who showed me the apartment and they said they would be fixed by the time I moved in, so you see how well that went. I hope this video shows potential renters what they face where they rent in Oak Park, IL or anywhere for that matter when you deal with apartment management company that does not give a shit about its renters.

Click here for the video that I posted on Youtube.com about the shitty lock:

No lights in Oak Park, Il at night

I don’t think that many people really think about walking around Oak Park, Il at night. I believe they think that the less lighting that is provided, that is a deterrent to crime and everything else. Therefore if you want live life, and do more than just exist on a daily basis you should have a preplanned route from where you park or use public transportation from to your apartment or house.

The lack of lighting in oak park, IL in residential areas, is alarming, and if you move into the area you should take note that you could be taking a chance by going out at night. I think that the trips at night I take to downtown Chicago I feel safer there than on the blue line (no shit) or walking through Oak Park, Il at night.

The last part of the trip to the apartment for me, is the most nerve wrecking, walking through the dark on an empty street with very little traffic. Though it may not be rationale it is a well-grounded fear, one that has been proven time and time again to be well founded. Therefore, if you are a single woman that has an active social life, that leads to at night adventures moving to Oak Park, Il will take more added planning than you think.
