Svengoolie 40th anniversary

Finally the Chicago icon Svengoolie (Rich Koz) is going to be honored for his 40 years of broadcast infamy the City Council of Chicago, not Berwyn will be congratulating him on his most amazing accomplishment. His original set is of course at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in downtown Chicago. This icon has made Halloween and B-grade horror movies cool for generations and is finally getting his due.

It’s a shame that Berwyn did not honor this legend in the same vein as how Oak Park, forgets some of their other famous sons and daughters. It has to be a suburb thing. But Chicago is taking advantage of this slip up and hosting an event at the Museum to honor him on October 26th so if you want to go to something cool before Halloween here you go.

The impeccable Svengoolie is also on MEtv on Saturdays and Sundays hosting B-movies to the delight of his fan base and the occasional viewer. MEtv is also celebrating Svengoolie’s accomplishment by selling 40th anniversary T-shirts on their website.

Here is the link describing the upcoming event:

Traffic part 1 zillion

Traffic. Did you know I drove through Oak Park IL from Harlem and Lake to the Westside of Chicago (Austin area) and it took me 32 minutes. I drove another from Berwyn to Goose Island via the expressway it only took me 43 minutes. Although there was an expressway involved in the latter trip, it would still make you wonder why Oak Park, IL is still harder to navigate than whizzing to downtown Chicago. I just wonder when this little crappy burb will use all the taxes paid by its residents to address the long existing issue of parking and traffic?
Maybe it is just one of those things people just do not care about or feel that it adds to the “Special feeling” about the burb. Could be that addressing the issue would bring more traffic into the village than what it already deters? Like a moving cul de sac, but of course most of those cul de sacs were built to discourage “traffic” of a different sort. Basically, cutting off easy access to the village from the changing (black) areas bordering it, maybe this is more of the same and we are just not admitting it.
Think about it how hard is it to create parking solutions around this burb when it really matters? The downtown area got those huge buildings put up down there and supposedly they added a bunch of parking into the buildings’ designs to offset the lack of parking in the area for the building residents. Why can’t Oak Park, IL do the same, is it brains? Desire? Or maybe just fear of change?

Ugh Oak Park, IL

I am sooo tired of shopping with the reusable bags in Oak Park, IL and Chicago that I have now restricted all my shopping to forest park or Berwyn, you know places that are not trying nickle and dime you for everything.

It does not help my disdain for this village and i allow any seemingly “negative” (notice the quotation marks) comments to be posted on this blog, mainly cause I am sick of hearing that it’s “not that bad”. No it’s not Syria where bombing is a way of life or the Sahara where there is a massive desert in which the temperature alone would make me bitch 24/7. But if you are trying to promote your area as inclusive or a great place to live or visit then follow suit in policies that are incentive driven. That make people want to stay or come here at this point who the fuck wants to be here and is not stupid, crazy, drinking the kool aid or all off the above?

The struggle continues…

I hate when organizations don’t got their shit together, I had a phone interview with this chick who had no idea what she was doing. I was hoping to get a job downtown so I could move either into the city or somewhere like Berwyn. However, this bitch didn’t have her shit together so I cancelled on her ass. The other one I talked to the hr rep late in the day like she was not trying to get in touch with me lol.

But I called her back and she was dry as hell didn’t know what the position entail meaning what the hell it was about or what I would be doing, then she said I would be meeting with someone else… Who she did not know because she did not know who or what department I would be under/reporting to, then when she mentioned about assigning funds I told her I did that at my last two jobs and she said, “oh okay” like she did not have my resume in front of her.

Plus, when I told her that I making 38k at my current job she said something like” maybe we could do that” When she sent me the confirmation email she forwarded an email from someone else meaning it had the date time of their interview and their email address. Yeah that was between 438 to 457 pm. It is pretty obvious if they are this messy now, they will be worse in the near future, so the struggle continues…

Oak Park, IL is averse to hardware stores especially when you need it.

Ugh, so good news the place I want to move too is basically being held for me. Plus, it’s not in Oak Park. Bad news the person who is in it now signed a year lease last week, so I am moving out of Oak Park apartments bullshit. To another place for 11 months in Oak Park, this week so I have everything in boxes. Plus my homie Sarah who has set up the place for me in Berwyn (Berwwwyn!) is getting surgery this week on Friday.

Although I lose a helper for the move I am glad she will get this fibroid thing taken care of. Meaning I am taking the Friday and 30th off, my boss is cool with because they know my situation with Oak Park apartments and would help me put holes in the walls with a sledge hammer if I didn’t want my deposit back. That is also why this post is late tons of shit to do, not enough time. I also noticed besides the ace hardware near Chicago Avenue and Harlem Avenue, what real handyman stores are in Oak Park, Il?

Fulfilling its pussy like image Oak Park, IL does not have that many hardware stores in the village boundaries, as if the most superficial person in the world laid the village out. It’s like the village forces you to get a contractor even to put up a picture on the wall. I had to go to the Home Depot in Bridgeview for boxes for my shit it was ridiculous but well worth it.

I look upon buying these boxes (heavy duty) as an investment for the next time I move. I will already have sturdy, extra boxes so that I am not fucking around at the last moment. But packing this shit to basically go a couple of blocks is fucking crazy. But don’t worry I have more stories about Green Plan management and Oak Park apartments to write. They suck so bad there are plenty of things to bitch about. Peace

Oak Park, IL -Fourth of July: Best place for actual fireworks in this area is in Berwyn, not Oak Park, Il

Oh Man, I as I said in a previous post I hope Oak Park, Il had a better fourth of July parade. Mainly when you think of Fourth of July you think of “fireworks” that is not in the competencies of Oak Park, IL. The video I posted on youtube.com should show it is great for kids and that is about it. Not for drivers, adults (well maybe pedo bears) but not the explosiveness display most people like to see. Well, I did not go this year because of that, in fact, I went to my friend Sarah’s place in Berwyn, because Berwyn, Il has fireworks!

We were on the rooftop of her apartment building watching a clear view of the fireworks from Morton High School on Harlem Ave. I think she took video stingy ass. I was getting lit and trying not to fall off the damn roof. But it was a better alternative than running all the way to downtown Chicago or being with a ton of kids and pedos trying to get my drink on.

Therefore if you want to see a really Fourth of July celebration and see fireworks but do not want to get shot in Chi-Iraq I recommend this avenue of celebration INSTEAD of the one in Oak Park, IL if you are of the grown-up variety, Got kids though? stay in Oak Park, IL

Please note: I do know Oak Park, IL has fireworks at their high school as well, but I am factoring in also the times that were given: 7 pm (Berwyn) vs dusk-ish (Oak Park, IL); then adding the factors of traffic and transportation and things to do in that area afterwards. Oak Park, Il is really lacking in those areas I have mentioned in the latter.
