Albion, Albion, Rush Oak Park, Albion, and Albion some more..

Holy shit so after reading this article (“Oak Park Plan Commission issues findings on Albion, Rush”) you are telling we will be hearing about this Albion crap in about two years?? Again? First off, I am glad that the village is expanding the Rush Oak Park Hospital, it is practical well thought of and ideal if the village wishes to expand its population base. Expanding the population base also expands the tax base too, so I know the village is drooling over the thought of all those additional tax dollars with the different high rises they are trying to push through. It is the same crap in Chicago, Oak Park, Il is no better. But the idea of expanding the hospital to me makes sense and I am glad it is out of the reasonable decisions made by the village board.

However, with this Albion crap they have just gotta let it go. Stroll down to the comments and the majority of the people commenting don’t want the friggin thing so why not listen to the people or put it to a ballot to end to this nightmare. Why not ask the people what they want or have a bunch of designs and put those designs to a vote, either through ballot (paper) or online. I just do not want to hear about it for the next two years, well, hopefully I won’t be trapped here that long! Then I can really crap on Oak Park, IL! (LOL) I am glad that most of my favorite places are back in the “trendy” places in the Chicagoland area, and the ones that I do like in the Oak Park, IL area are on the borders so I do not have to put up with the traffic problems.

I mean let’s be realistic an 18-story building is going to bring a lot of traffic to that area, and the plans provided do not have any ideas realistically to deal with that influx. What a parking garage? If that was a solution then why doesn’t Oak Park, Il not have dozens of parking garages all around the village then to truly help the residents? Because there is no money in that type of thinking, with that type of logic you know that the story of the Albion development if defeated in the next couple of months will just “pop” back up in two years’ time. Hey, everyone loves a sequel right? Ugh.

Here is the article talking about the dreaded Albion development rising from the dead like an extra from a George Romero movie:

Confusing parking Signs “A letter to the editor”

I recently read a “letter to the editor” on Oakpark.com about the confusing parking signs and I found it hilarious. The author, I hope is being sarcastic, is hoping that the new parking signs will encourage more walking and more bike lanes. The reality is that more walking is not in the cards for tourists and visitors who come to Oak Park, IL with major dollars to spend. They are trying that crap in downtown Chicago, but there are a couple of differences between the Oak Park, IL’s downtown and Chicago’s downtown.

There is a huge population in Chicago that pays tons of freaking taxes that subside bike lanes that Oak Park, IL does not have, obviously if the author of this article is being true to themselves then they like to pay MORE taxes (property, etc.). Second the layout of Chicago is massive compared to the compact area Oak Park, IL encompasses the bike lanes with hinder travel even more than it already is. Imagine local businesses trying to get deliveries, or how about regular people like you and me getting regular packages with more bike lanes taking up those parking spots?

The reality is that the parking signs are a mess and the spots available for parking for EVERYONE, needs adjustment or realignment. Major businesses that are invested in Oak Park, IL are going to wonder if their customers will have enough parking for the upcoming holiday season as they battle Amazon and other online retailers these businesses will want the make their brick and mortar stores even more attractive not less, because of less parking places.

That is something most residents do not understand, if they want there “haven” in Oak Park, Il to remain that way, nowadays they need to do. For the future Oak Park, Il needs to build and restructure its infrastructure not eliminate it. That revenue made from parking passes, village stickers, etc., with new bike lanes and more “walking” means that the village board will need to sell more properties to development companies to build an Albion development just to offset the money lost with the elimination of those tax dollars.

Yes, lets eliminate parking spaces altogether and see the chaos unfold.

Here is the article/letter to the editor that made me laugh so much:

Parking signs confusing? no really?

The idea that these parking signs would help is just crazy, the signs only complicates even further the confusing parking situation that is Oak Park, Il. The idea that you can put all the stupid ass information about the parking restrictions on a flat piece of metal canvas is ridiculous. Even the designer of the sign is quoted thinking that is too hopeful of a mission.

To see that other residents are having a ton of problems with these parking signs as well is fantastic I am no longer feeling alone or half as stupid as Oak Park, Il makes all of us feel. There is no shortage of miscommunication in Oak Park, Il and these signs just add on to the confusion. There are probably many stories of confusion when stupidity is prevalent and widespread as this I wonder if the people who make these decisions ever think these things through.

The village has a survey to allow you to communicate with the village about the effectiveness of these signs. Most of the questions (under seven) focus upon the ability of the readers who see these signs and how well is it communicating the consolidated messages of signs past into one. To me, the new signs are open to interpretation and when that is the case, nine times out of ten, you usually get a ticket for your troubles.

Can you imagine if you’re getting a ticket or not depends upon the interpretation of these crazy signs? If the cops are ticket happy in the first place how much of an increase in tickets issued will come as a result of this insanity? How many people receiving tickets for this approved insanity will change the course of the village of Oak Park, IL doing something that utterly makes no sense?

You can let your voice be heard it is a survey powered by survey monkey regarding the parking signs go here: oak-park.us/signsurvey

This is an interesting article about the parking signs:

Parking in Oak Park, IL is made to be more complex that it should be.

The crazy thing is, with parking in Oak park, Il is that the village and residents make it more complex than it needs to be. I have scanned a set of directions that the village gave me for parking in the area in which I paid a permit for. Once you paid for the village sticker and the three-month area sticker, they gave you instructions that seemed like some type flight or video game instructions. It just makes things way more complicated why not just have posted signs in the area?

It is bad enough you have to move your car after 10 pm and park in the depot, then move it back to the main area after 8 am. Which if you work second shift anywhere you are in hell, why not just let people who paid for the sticker just stay there?

Then you got residents that act like the village has not pimped out that area in the first place. Coming out and “claiming” parking areas that the permission for parking has already been sold to other parties. Instead of raising hell with the drivers who only rent there, as a permanent resident, it makes sense to raise hell with the village.

Not with people who have no ties to the area, and who hold a grudge like forever. Take a look at the crazy instructions for a good laugh, although other burbs and downtown Chicago have parking rules not as bad as Oak Park, Il.

Happy Fourth of July from Oak Park, IL

Happy 4th of July! I will be taking suggestions of what to write and I will blog further and comment upon articles about Oak Park, Il on other websites in which I have previously commented on. I think that after starting this blog and the multiple web pages regarding the negative underbelly of Oak Park, IL I thought I would be a singular voice but alas I am not! I have found multiple voices out there ranting about the same thing(s) that I usually am.

Whether it is parking issues, ignorant neighbors, irresponsible dog owners, etc., there are people out there that do not accept the craziness given to them by Oak Park, IL and have exercised their free right to freedom of speech on the internet. Many have sacrificed to allow people like me to have the right of dissent and to break down areas of pure bullshit like Oak Park, IL and the idyllic stupidity or atmosphere they are trying to display for the masses.

I wish all of you a happy 4th of July, and hopefully one day we will all be able to park anywhere we want in Oak Park, Il not because common sense will prevail, but because this is America!

Below is a link to some patriotic music (I do not own) on youtube.com that’s can stir the patriotic juices.

Happy Birthday, America!

Oak Park, IL parking plan stupidity

Here is how stupid Oak Park, Il is regarding the parking issue not in the village but around it. The village restricts parking for the residents on the Oak Park side of Austin, like these same residents could not just park down one of the side streets on the Chicago side. The idea that you would regulate even a border street (with the city) is just crazy and greedy.

I am not sure how long something like this has been going on, but it is borderline insanity (pun intended) so on May 8th the village board had meeting to schedule a meeting to discuss this issue in September.

Yup, a meeting to have a meeting to discuss an already complicated issue. Stupid? Yes, but that is Oak Park, IL it is simply a way to kick the issue down the road. Although the idea of partnering with SpotHero or ParkWhiz (mobile parking app companies) is a great idea its seems like a way for the village to pimp out a bit more of Oak Park, IL just like the city of Chicago did with the downtown parking. Of course, now that city is stuck in a 99-year lease without a way out. Maybe Oak Park, Il is looking to do the same…
