So Hate does have a home in Oak Park-River Forest!!!

Now I did not want to say anything about this altercation in River Forest, Il until all the facts came in. BECAUSE you know how people get “this video does not show everything that happened” or “Lets wait for all the facts” But as I said before there is huge racism at play in the local area’s real estate/property management market. And to illustrate that point was the idiot who started a racial tinged altercation at the River Forest Jewel with a woman of color.

Now, before you say, “that is just one person” fucking please. This dude was just overt with his shit. There are plenty of people who are just covert with it or they hide behind “this came from the top not me…” When bullshit Karen its 100% you. I have copied the River Forest Police Department’s Facebook statement below (in case you hate Facebook, like I do) and as per the news and the statement this “gentleman’ was not only the instigator, there were MULTIPLE witnesses to the parts not seen by the video and as you can see by his picture has no remorse.

If this gentleman is acting like this at a Starbucks, you can only imagine this dude when conducting real estate deals that include People of Color (POC). I hope that everyone (POC) who has dealt with this man and had a real-estate deal gone astray for some odd or fishy reason comes back to make a complaint against him. The village of Oak park, Il and River Forest, IL should also look into his business practices as a result of this incident. But that’s if they are only truly wanting to put money to all the shit they are talking about equality.

I extremely doubt that after a plea deal which he does not deserve from hitting a woman, that the local law enforcement will push punishment any further.  Nowadays there is a need for a clean cut example that this behavior is not tolerate, fuck that “sorry” shit, because this dude has handed everyone a clear opportunity to set things right. Hopefully the village of River Forest will have balls to take it.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged River Forest resident Robert Palley (61) with one count of a Hate Crime and one count of Aggravated Battery (Public Place) after an incident in the Jewel parking lot on Wednesday morning.

The Cook County Felony Review Unit recommended the charges after an investigation by the River Forest Police Department and prosecutors.

Mr. Palley is alleged to have committed a battery against a female, African-American woman in the parking lot of a Jewel Foods store (7525 W. Lake St.) following a verbal exchange that, according to the victim and witnesses, was racially-motivated.

During the course of its investigation into the altercation between Mr. Palley and the victim, River Forest Police investigators sought felony charges against Mr. Palley for his role in the incident.

Mr. Palley will participate in an online bond hearing this afternoon.

“We have no tolerance for hate in River Forest,” said River Forest Village President Cathy Adduci. “We appreciate and support the thorough work of our River Forest Police Department as well as the cooperation of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office to hold those who engage in criminal activity that is motivated by hate fully accountable. And, we applaud the witnesses that helped the investigators determine the facts in this case so that felony charges could be brought against this individual. Finally, we’re pleased that officials from Jewel-Osco cooperated immediately by providing video footage, which helped us move forward quickly on this case.

Bucking the plastic bag tax in Oak Park, IL

I hate the plastic bag fines that Oak Park, Il has in the village. I went to the local Jewel on Roosevelt avenue without any recyclable bags and had to pay the stupid fine for plastic bags to carry my own groceries out. Now it does sound kind of harsh to say “fines” but it is what it is. It is just another way for Oak Park, IL to take in extra cash and tax its residents for something else. If its not overtaxing them on parking permits, then its other services and property taxes that will empty the pockets of the average Oak Park, IL resident.

This tax not only impacts the residents but the renters and tourists that flow in and out of the village. This extra tax although it harkens to the environmental side of one’s being it is still not helpful in reducing the usage of plastic bags in the village. All I have to do in order to bypass this stupid tax is use some common sense and I have all the plastic bags I want or even stuck my nose up to the village government. Also, it is a way to get all the plastic bags I need for my small garbage cans either in my bathroom, bedroom or even for the one near the couch in my living room.

The first way to excise my brainpower and get away from the village tax is easy. GO outside the village limits, for example, one little car ride to the Walmart in Forest Park, IL and I got a store with almost equal selection of goods and most likely better prices. To top it off the plastic bags at Walmart are … free! No taxes!!! Take that Oak Park, IL but that is probably something everyone knows. The second way is only good if you are buying fruits and/or vegetables, because the produce sections is littered with free plastic bags. You know the ones you use to bag your fruits and/or vegetables?

Well just take a couple extra bags and double bag your produce items so that once you are done paying for your groceries in line, you can bag your other items ether in the same bag as the produce or separate. And the best thing about it is no taxes!! Take that Oak Park, IL!

Plastic bags are now 10 cents each in Oak Park, IL part 1

So as we all know now, that the plastic bag 10 cents fee went into effect in all of Oak Park, IL. I just ran into Jewel on Roosevelt near Harlem and there was this poor jewel worker cornered by two senior citizens complaining that there were no notices regarding the tax or signs telling them about the tax. Like it was the fault of the Jewel organization that they were not informed about the tax.

First that is their old ass problem bitching about all they saw on the news was “fires in Brooklyn” well it WAS announced on the news they just did not pay attention to it. Second the elected officials not Jewel are responsible for the tax. Therefore, if you voted for them and they played “sneaky sneaky snake” by using stealth by pushing this new law through that again is your fault. It is up to the citizens to hold officials accountable and make sure they are transparent at all times so that they know that their interests are being watched after and tended too.

Instead of just blindly following those elected officials and voting on their “faith” on what those officials say. In other words, do not bitch to the workers of your local stores because they most likely do not even live in Oak Park, IL and second what the hell are they going to do about It? Use their magic wand to override the local laws for your dumb ass 10 cents?

Next time how about you do some research before you go to the polls, or raise hell to your officials when they do stupid shit. Before you waste everyone’s, time blocking the store exit bitching about your ignorance. Or better yet use your wallet as your voice and shop elsewhere and give the rest of us some peace.

Oak Park, IL blog related: Updating the Yelp Account

I just wanted to say thank you for prodding me my asshole in crime (you know who you are), I was really slacking when it came to a portion of the Oak Park, Il blog and that was the Yelp section or part, where I reviewed the businesses in the Chicagoland area and (of course) write something about it. I go and eat out often, but really do not put pen to paper on my experiences with these businesses, which is a shame because a lot of them are really great with some fuck ups in-between.

Therefore, I got off my high horse or lazy ass and posted some brief reviews on some of the places I have been in the last two months in the Chicago land area, I say “Chicagoland” because of Oak Park, Il in very limited in the offerings they have here for a person like me. You know that likes to try new things and likes to live a little bit. I made two updates to my original posts on the first two organization that’s I have listed below and made eight more “quickies” and had my favorite jerk post them. Because the fucker does NOT sleep, seriously. Plus, I do not know where I did with the password for Yelp but since they are into Organizing I let them handle the easy stuff. HaHa.

These are the ten organizations I have reviewed recently on Yelp some of them we all (in Oak Park, Il) have come in contact with and should know the others I from my old hood in Lakeview and my friend Sarah’s place near Berwyn. I do recommend to you to sign up for Yelp and even if you are not a HUGE writing type of person to sign up for the site and jot down a few words about the places you interact with. This way others can know if they should frequent that establishment or not, plain and simple. Plus, if you had shitty service from an organization do not keep that shit in it is like therapy to go on Yelp and bitch about it or something to that effect. Stress will kill you, get it out and tell the world (even the organization) what is up!

Here is the ten I reviewed recently:

  1. The village of Oak Park
  2. Jerusalem Cafe
  3. Route 66 Beverage
  4. Renaldi’s Pizza Pub
  5. White Castle
  6. Raising Canes
  7. Jewel-Osco
  8. Sugar Fixé Patisserie
  9. Oak Park Regional Housing Center
  10. Bittersweet Pastry Shop
