Traffic on Oak Park’s bridges

As I stated before traffic is a huge problem here in Oak Park, IL now unfortunately someone has pay for it with their life. The bridges over the I-290 are nothing to play with. You really cannot even blame the driver in this case when reading what happened it is obvious that someone was just rushing to get home and did not see the car.

These bridges are often hard to navigate, and it is no surprise that this has happened now what to do to remedy this problem, is unknown. I have driven through Oak Park, at different times of the day and because it is so congested, many drivers go above the speed limit while many pedestrians believing that these drivers can see them take a chance walking in front of the aforementioned cars. I have done it in downtown Chicago, but I think because it IS Chicago that my awareness is heightened. Meanwhile in Oak Park, in this shitty little village my guard is let down because one believes the false sense of security that the village impermeates into our brains.

Even it reshapes the entire village there must be changes into the walkways, bridges, streets and sidewalks of Oak Park, IL to sensibly construct a village that can be safely travelled. So that accidents as this will not happen again.

This is the article discussing the accident of the Ridgeland bridge:

Oak Park, IL has to fix bridges haha

Amazing enough that Oak Park, il has to pay for something that is traffic related but falling concrete is a worthy cause. Having this happen at such a major intersection is totally insane. The only thing I can think of is that local construction may have added in the cause of falling concrete. The cause and effect of new construction’s impact to existing structures is not something that is readily thought of.

But as old as some of the structures are in oak park, il this should not be an afterthought. Safety concerns and all that to residents, tourists, pedestrians and drivers alike who use this thoroughfare as a means of travel. From point a to point b, there is a lot of thought put into aesthetics but not into practicality. Hopefully this is a wakeup call to head future projects into that line of thought, need over want.

The OP Police will escort you around Oak Park, IL if you feel scared….

Wow so the Oak Park police will escort you through the area if you feel threatened? Lol how about having some extra patrols through the area? Honestly, if I am calling the police because I do not feel safe at that point I believe you will need more than an escort. Or if you are calling the police it is after a crime has already been committed. I wonder how many crank calls, or nervous “nillys” have called in to use this service already? It seems to me like throwing money at a problem that does not match the solution at all.

Instead of doing more patrols just call us if you feel scared? Huh? What is the criteria for getting a ride like this? What is the timeframe? What is the average cost for each time this service is used? How effective is this service to deterring crime? Is the service being used properly, i.e.: is there an actual threat?

There a ton of questions I can ask but to me, this just seems like a fluff piece of news, or a way for the police department or village to act like it is being proactive without doing something really substantial. Oh well it’s your tax dollars at “work”
