Oak Park, IL says goodbye to the Divvy bike program (insert laughter here)

Ah so Oak Park is pulling out of the divvy program? After all that construction to build the necessary bike racks like the one near Harrison ave only to drop out a year later. You know were there any studies or surveys done to make sure this was a good idea in the first place? Nah probably not. Just a bunch of greedy village officials who saw dollar signs and had these half haphazard things installed. Good I laugh at this failure chalk it up to another gaffe by village officials.

Ask yourself if you had the track record these village officials have would you still be employed? Could the average small business owner weather these types of gaffes and still remain open? So how do these elected officials remain in office with the obviously stupid mistakes they make time and again? I mean it is obvious that the suburbs west of Oak Park are highway laden therefore no way to really ride a bike. And to the east there is the Austin area, the West side of Chicago where the city of Chicago puts the least amount of economic investment into.

And therefore, you take your life in your hands when you try to drive through the area, let alone ride a bike. Hence, why this failure was not obvious from the onset is a mystery to me. Hopefully the taxpayers in Oak Park, IL whose money has been wasted by this endeavor remembers this when election time comes around.

Here is an article that discusses the end of the program: http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/oak-park/news/ct-oak-park-divvy-deal-ending-tl-0125-20180117-story.html

Plastic bags are now 10 cents each in Oak Park, IL part 3

With the 10 cent plastic bag tax I wonder how that will impact local businesses? That will probably impact the bottom line of the smaller businesses as now they have to charge their clients additional expenses with each purchase. Without immense assets to cover any decline of profit or added expenditures that this tax may bring like the larger businesses such as CVS or Jewel-Osco, small businesses will most likely suffer ergo like during the cook county soda pop tax.

Small businesses are now left on the hook to figure out ways to offset the costs or the unnecessary back lash that the bag tax brings whether it is huge discounts to keep customers coming back and distracted from the tax or incentive programs that help even out the cost to savings ratio? Either or I am simply loving how the village simply taxes the crap out of everyone and still get elected. I love the chaos and mean spirited public debates it creates, that is all that is needed for change or to cause a larger exodus out of Illinois. Keep doing stupid Oak Park, IL you do it well.

Oak Park, IL Blog wallpaper

I made a couple more wallpapers for the blog, just logo (text) wallpaper, keeping it plain and simple, but also giving the posts the needed “color” without worrying about taking pictures or hunting for images all day. I find that these simple wallpapers as help when I promote the blog on other sites.

This “branding” not only makes it easier for me to focus on content but also is a great lesson in marketing. I see why big corporations put their names everywhere because it lessens the need for spending money or time on graphics or anything to unnecessary or over the top. I know one of the things I have been critical of oak park, Il about is not focusing upon practical issues and solutions.

Therefore, these simple text wallpapers are the epitome of that belief and strategy. I must say although they will be simple I will add a sense of humor to them as well. Enjoy. https://plus.google.com/u/0/102222691833581930279/posts/jVBFAiJUH91

Oak Park, IL related: Meijer leaving the area

Now a closing that I am upset about is the Meijer in Melrose Park, just because I do not like to go to the Walmart in Forest Park, Il (it’s fucking ghetto) or the Jewel on Roosevelt (it’s expensive) this store was a welcomed gem in this oasis of pretentiousness. Pete’s is alright but very expensive as well and the aisles are small to the point I am breathing or tasting everyone else’s breath.

The stores that are left do not step up their game and have not felt the reason to do so. Now that Meijer is leaving the area even though it is two suburbs over is was a fantastic alternative to these sloppy expensive stores in Oak Park, Il and in the nearby suburbs. God I will miss their well-lit parking lots that had clientele I was not worried would assault me in some way after shopping for groceries. That is alright I got mace, I will wear my sneakers so that I am ready for giving out some ghetto hoe beat downs.

Here is the article spelling out that bad fucking news:

New Park District signs for Oak Park, IL

Oh great, so I see Oak Park, Il just wastes money like the city of Chicago does driving through the village on the side streets to avoid traffic I noticed a new sign for Rehm park. Nice colorful and shiny. Of course, parking and taxes are still issues from residents in Oak Park, IL but who cares about that, so long as we can brightly see where Rehm park is, from three blocks away.

Now if you have been here in Oak Park, il you know what the parks around here look like, there is no disguising it. I mean the population here walk and let their dogs shit everywhere around here, there are bike riders and runners everywhere on the sidewalks in the streets it is like one big fucking park (no pun intended) anyway. So why even bother buying these signs anyway, it’s not like there aren’t baseball or futbul games played by youth leagues or amateurs there. The mystery is the traffic is so bad around here you have to avoid Oak Park, IL altogether to get to Chicago to the rest of the burbs it’s no joke.

However, the village of Oak Park, Il going right in character with their usual sell out ways are spending money on something stupid like this, that is cool though because when I tell people this they really shy away from renting or buying property here. You do not have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out when suburbs get like this they are slowly on a downward spiral to match the major metropolitan area that it is near.

In other words, I wonder if Oak Park, Il’s forefathers would react seeing their small oasis is quickly becoming like Chicago, not only in situations like this, but also in the skyline that as I mentioned before is rapidly changing. Time to pick a new suburb people. A better one.

Vintage Apartments in Oak Park, IL pt 2 the wiring

What I hate about Oak Park, IL is the apartments and lack of amenities, in this “vintage” shithole being rented out by Oak Park Apartments is one hell of a crazy set up that is still indicative of the time is which the building was constructed. It seems like the building was built in the era between the 1920’s to the1950’s, I mean when you sign the rental agreement they have a waiver that states you do not disturb the paint chips if you see any during your stay because of a threat of lead. In essence, I have ruined the development of any future children I may have by living here, great thanks, Oak Park, IL!

There are a lot of vintage thing is hate while being here, one of the major problems is the electrical setup that is predated before the age of modern technology, like computers and flat screen televisions, probably even ENIAC the computer from the late 1940”s. Yes, I am college educated, so now I am looking at my power strip that has tons of electronics plugged into the one electrical plug in the bedroom I am wondering when is the last time this wiring has been inspected. I mean these walls have more cracks and details than an 80-year-old man’s penis. Therefore, I know that Oak Park Apartments has done very little to update the wiring for safety purposes or check the preexisting wiring for today’s renters.

All this management group has done is got some cheap labor so that they do not have to pay for permits, or union type pay, then had these day laborers paint over the old paint, wipe up the previous tenants’ fluids off the bathroom floor (barely), and maybe, just maybe sprayed for roaches in the apartment before renting it out again to someone like yours truly. Seriously, look at the pictures, the reason I have all these devices plugged into one strip is because there is just one electric plug in the bedroom! Who the fuck has heard of that shit? Obviously, the village of Oak Park, IL does not care either, because there is probably asbestos in the walls too along with the lead and the wiring that Moses himself installed.

Everyone just turns the other way on this type of stuff, (again) obviously so why bother complaining to those who are part of the problem? It’s Oak Park, IL and “we’re artisty and stuck up and shit” who cares if these old buildings are possibly issues waiting to happen and the Hemingway House although built around the early 1900s has better a better electrical system than my apartment?

I pity the poor fool who comes in after me, and has problems with the plugs in this bitch. I am not going to end up a Forensic files story due to the lazy cheap ass apartment management does not know how to get a couple of day laborers rip down a couple of walls and get an actual electrician to put in a couple of outlets while updating the system to current safety regulations. I think they could even do at least one room each time they rent to a new person, and that is very often, besides the bitch upstairs I really do not know many of the people in my building it is like a halfway house instead of an apartment building. Therefore, I want all the electric outlets I can have so that I can add extra light to each room.

So that is a room per year, all the construction and electrical updating can be done in at least seven years. I mean they actually did it for the bathroom all the walls are smooth and the electrical work is up to date, in fact, I have three outlets in the bathroom! Probably, they are hoping my complaining ass plugs in a radio while taking a bath and it “accidentally” falls in. They wish. I just hope someone reads this if the lack of electrical outlets and the threat of old wiring freaks you out well renting here may not be in your best interests. Just FYI.

PS: I have to plug in and disconnect plugs all of the time, during the work week from my curling iron, iron (for my work clothes), hairdryer, etc., it is just a pain in the ass.

Friday evenings in Oak Park, IL

Oh its 952 pm on a Friday just trying to kick it and relax for the weekend, and that fucking idiot upstairs is playing with her dog. Yes, that a dog is bouncing around upstairs, barking and shit while I am trying to watch a movie. ..nice.

Yeah someone does not give a shit about anyone, and just wants to interact with this dog when they want to interact with them at night, late at night. Constantly from 10 pm to 3 am this happens throughout the week, you cannot complain to Greenplan Management because they are useless, they either take her side because “she’s older” (age discrimination) or they simply just don’t give a fuck.

Totally useless, if you are looking for an apartment in the Oak Park, IL area spare yourself some aggravation and do not rent from Oak Park Apartments or Greenplan Management you will thank yourself later. Oh and that dip bitch upstairs she is old and looks like God hit her with the ugly stick.. twice. Seriously.
