Oak Park, IL related: LemonAid event in River Forest 2017

I did not know that there was a lot of chaos as I drove through River Forest you know the Thatcher avenue express the quickest way to maneuver around Oak Park, IL to main streets that surround it without the hassle of all the traffic and chaos that “No Park” brings. What I did pass by was on Bonnie Brae the annual LemonAid event that the local kids do each year to raise money each year for a good cause.

It is a great event for two reasons first to me in remembrance of 9/11 it is a great way to do something positive on a day that was created through violence. Second, these kids and the organizers are doing something that is for a good cause the Kidz Express. This Kidz Express is a nonprofit that helps kids in the South Austin area, the fact this charity is doing something for kids “across the divide” of Austin Avenue is fantastic.

I have always complained that Oak Park, IL officials should try to reach out and assist the residents of the Austin Area because it would be in the best interest of the suburb as well as the Austin Area. But here you have a bunch of kids and nonprofit organizers leading the charge which the village government should be doing.

This was the 16th Annual LemonAid event so most likely there will be a 17th annual event with River Forest naming Bonnie Brae in honor of this group’s work with an honorary “LemonAid Place” sign there with be hopefully a chance in upcoming years for all of us to help sponsor this event in the future.

Here is the article that discusses the event:

Crime in River Forest and Oak Park, IL

Ah so there has been an uptick in crime in River Forest the area that is usually not touched by crime as Oak Park, Il usually is but now is getting the brunt of its isolationist policies. Both suburbs are linked together in more ways than one, and unfortunately, both are bordered heavily by poor black areas. Oak Park, Il has the Chicago Austin area and River Forest has the suburb of Maywood, I mean if I was on a board of trustees or governing body I would try to reach to these areas to see what I could do to bring some economic development to these areas so hopefully it would attract investment back into these communities and reduce crime.

But noooooo, Oak Park hides behind cula-da-sacs and River Forest hides behind a huge network of Forest Preserves as if criminals wouldn’t run through a forest, obviously, the city planners never watch a Friday the 13th film before. As the crimes are more economic based than run of the mill crazy violence. Therefore, it must be determined what are the motivators behind the criminal’s actions and there is nothing more motivating than living across the street from a bunch of self-delusional shmucks who think an address guarantees safety.

I thank god am not one of those people and I am paranoid, as the good people of Oak Park, Il like to call it, 24/7 but at least I still have all my shit. So until these burbs take the reasonable approach and help build up the communities around them the problem will always exist and problems like these will always get worse.

Burglaries in River Forest rose in this article:

Oak Park, IL blog in e-book format?

I think I will make an e-book of all the crazy stuff I put on here in a text document and maybe see if I could save all the entries as pdfs and combined them together to have the pictures used throughout too, again, make an e-book about these experiences and rants I have about Oak Park, IL.

No, it will be a free download because I want the e-book to be easily available for all to download, read and own. Shit half of the books I know that my friends own are pdfs they gotten online or through other friends. I am working on it this is just an idea, I may need to add a couple more pictures of this hell hole to make it more interesting, I do not know how to make Oak Park, IL more interesting, maybe a miracle from God probably?

I digress anyway just putting it out there as an idea, tell me what you think would it be easier than logging on and going through the various past articles? Or Do you like the blog site more or maybe both formats would work? Give me a hollar!

Oak Park, IL is just shitty compared to other burbs

After the shit on Friday, I was like I will hang with my friend Sarah on the weekend and I was like in heaven, it was nice out and very quiet in her area. Now I see why Svengoolie always says “Berwyn” people are not up your ass being noisy and wanting to tell you what to do. The big plus also there is that I saw maybe one person walking their dog in a 5 block radius, wherein Oak Park, Il you cannot even go outside into the courtyard to see a dog and its owner. Oh also to step in dog shit.

The neighbors are quiet in her apartment building, I would characterize their behavior as if almost like they were trying to avoid contact with other people. We took out the garbage went to a local bar, okay, okay, two local bars “persuasion” and another one (too lit sorry). We picked up some White Castles after we got wasted and it tasted like mana from God, it was so good. It was crazy because there were businesses that were open past 10 pm!

Like for adults to actually go and hang out, unlike Oak Park, IL where the commercial businesses are aimed towards kids and retirees. I think the only issues was the town-wide 25 mph speed limit because as you know going through Oak Park, IL even in daylight is boring as fuck, so most of the time you like to speed through to get that drive and life experience over with.

In fact, to get a White Castle to steady the mixed drinks we were getting when we were drinking at my place in Oak Park, IL (because they are no real hangouts after 10 pm) we would have to travel through Most of Oak Park, IL, River Forest and part of Melrose Park, Il to get a few freaking burgers. Therefore, comparing Berwyn, IL (made famous by the Wayne’s World movie) to Oak Park, IL is comparing Apples to Cranberries for fun stuff to do if you are between 20 to 60 years old.

Hell, I know 68 years olds who like to get a great hot cheeseburger at 11 pm at night, so yes, Oak Park, Il is lame as shit. Rent elsewhere, own property elsewhere, party elsewhere just do everything elsewhere, like getting laid; Oak Park, Il is just shitty.

Soon no one will be able to afford Oak Park, IL

Some time ago I read an article (“Who can afford to live in Oak Park?”) talking about if Oak Park, Il was still going to be affordable for those middle and lower income families and how the village is less worried about the “racial re-segregation” that is happening now in Oak Park, IL. The fact of the matter is that those old liberal residents in Oak Park, Il can state that they are open to everyone and as they sign kumbaya to our faces they cannot wait to sell the so called “heritage” of Oak Park, IL so that the affluent move in and raise property values once again.

Honestly in hopes to move out the less desirables in their minds but being true hypocrites they would not tell say it out aloud, the funny thing is that this raises their property values AND taxes as well, sort of a double edged sword. So as long as they keep those poor people and minorities out who cares right? Oak Park, IL becomes that exclusive suburb once again affluent, pushing out the thoughts of being inclusive as they all put out their Hillary signs preaching that they are for everyone, so as long as that everyone is really them.

If the next generation cannot buy the homes or rent the apartments in Oak park, Il what happens to that area? It is not like Oak Park, Il is bustling with activity like Chicago’s Lakeview or Wrigleyville, it is more like Hyde Park than anything else and you see how that is!

Now after reading that article in July you think the writer may be an alarmist but actually he has a point as the Tasty dog was torn down on Lake street it was not bulldozed to make way for a restaurant or an additional building for commercial use to expand the Hemingway district’s theme. Per the article (“Tasty Dog flattened District House moves forward”) it was actually torn down for a mixed use condo that will probably have store front business space, but it will also have condos ranging from 650,000 to $900,000. Oh yeah, the people in the Chicago area obviously have the money because a third of the units sold. However, can they sell all the units? When these tenants move in what type of resources will they demand of the area? Will they be okay with the Oak Park Apartments or the Oak Park River Forest High School just a little bit down the street or would those areas need to be refitted for the new class of residents that are moving in?

Truthfully if I bought a condo for nearly a million dollars it would not be in that area unless I was told that the area was soon about to change. Which brings us back to the first article in which the writer was disturbed about one high rise, and how one high rise could damage Oak Park, IL’s commitment to racial and income desegregation you compare it to this article and you will realize he was not pissing in the wind.

There are other condos going up on Lake Street from Oak Park, IL to River Forest, Il, in the article “River Forest advances Lake and Lathrop project” we see that both villages are basically saying FUCK YOU to affordable housing and pushing such undesirables who cannot spend the cash to go elsewhere. Even though there are people who can pay this type of money, of course, there is no doubt there are people who can, but it is not enough to fill either village when properties like these raise the property values and them the property taxes in the area.

Of course Oak Park, IL is not being ran by the brightest crayons in the box, look at their operating budget, and the idiotic development and further construction of expensive condos all up and down Lake Street merely illustrates that fact. The selling point of Oak Park is its quaintness harking back to Wilbur Wright designed houses and the home of Hemingway, now that illusion is overshadowed by the condos popping up killing the illusion that Oak Park, Il is still that place that safeguards its old time traditions and values.

This is the article that is superbly written about the housing inequality in Oak Park, Il:

RE: Concordia University Chicago Employee Reviews On Indeed.com

Concordia University Chicago Employee Reviews On Indeed.com is an interesting post from one of my friends on Google Plus, regarding one of the institutions in the area and how they are presented on Indeed.com. Since it is in River Forest, Il and that village with Oak Park, IL share a community bond I decided to post it on here.

For your viewing pleasure:

It is pretty hilarious and in the same vein of commentary that I have on my blog about Oak Park, IL. This post talks about the negative reviews of Concordia University Chicago and how their negative atmosphere can affect students and how it already affects its employees, sound familiar?

Oak Park, IL OPRFHS Sexual assault pt 2

Since there is no help coming from the Oak Park police department who marginalized a reported sexual assault that happened back in August, tired of the runaround one of the students got active and posted a petition on Change.org to address the issue. This just brings to light more allegations of sexual misconduct which who knows if they have been addressed by The Oak Park Police Department, as with my case with my crazy neighbor. It seems that the OPPD do not take such things seriously, maybe the petition on Change.org will bring create an atmosphere of professionalism from the Oak Park Police Department. Because seriously kids raping kids is just terrible and even if there is an allegation no matter how slim there should be some time of increased attention to this issue.

Even the local “newspapers” her raise questions about the creation of a rape culture at the high school, and as with any resident in Oak Park, Il it makes one wonder how long has this been going on? If we know that there were at least “several” other offenders involved with this allegation why are they still allowed to go to school with other potential victims? With the other allegations, what has happened with those offenders are they still involved with Oak Park River Forest High School?

Also if the school is waiting for the Police Department to complete their investigation how are they handling the integration of these offenders into the general student population at the school? What new methods or procedures is the school going to put into place to protect future victims of sexual assault in the future? It seems to me that both entities (OPPD and OPRFHS) are to blame in keeping this culture continuing, not to mention the offenders involved. And the kids are only going to follow the direction of the grownups and those who are in charge and deliver out the consequences of their actions if there are no immediate consequences then why should they worry or change? So if Oak Park, Il is interested in creating a bunch of rapists they are doing a good job! Ha! Oak Park, IL created cul da secs decades ago because they feared the crime from the Austin area spilling into their little community, probably because they wanted to create a culture of veil on their own!

Here is the article from the local newspaper that brings up more questions regarding this incident:

Here is the Change.org petition sign off against the rape culture that the Oak Park River Forest High School is inept in protecting and the Oak Park Police Department is slow to putting an end to:

Just saying NO to the Mailing for the Vote yes Referendum Card I was sent

Oh so I got home and checked my mail and got one of these Vote Yes on 200 the Oak Park River Forest High School Referendum telling me about the Tax cost per Household (annual Property tax Bill) and how it will greatly impact the students of OPRFHS plus the benefits that THEY, the students will reap. Geez, glad I rent over in this bitch and do not own property, I mean it seems like a small group of government or legislative idiots pushing through a measure that will cost the majority of residents a huge ton of cash, in which only a few select individuals will be able to use.

I wonder will residents be able to show their tax bill and use the pool if they want? I mean they will have at least a couple grand invested into this thing by the time it’s done right? Oh it also expands areas for the Performing Arts, which is usually for any school is first set of programs they eliminated if there are budget holes LOL! Does every resident get a free ticket for a concert since they are being forced to pay for the pool? I mean it’s like Windows 10 where Microsoft tried to stuff it down every PC owners that only to have it be rejected by the vast majority of users. Here in Oak Park, Il you have the majority of residents REJECTING the idea of this expensive ass pool.

Probably because like me they do not see the need for the extra expense is needed, nor do they think the extra add-on is necessary there is not a convincing argument for the majority of the residents to add on an extra line cost to their already tightened and taxed household budgets. How about they do not have any kids that go to the school? Maybe they have pets instead of kids, because they do not want any because they do not want the extra expense, or maybe these residents cannot have any? Thanks OPRFHS for pushing this agenda on these groups of residents. How about those residents that are single or maybe even elderly and/or their kids are in college now so they see no need to keep assisting OPRFHS anymore?

I mean doesn’t enough of our taxes go to schools and it seems there are still issues of funding? I think that statement is reflective of most, not all, of the school districts in the Chicagoland area. But to have a school board that just wants to tax the residents for frivolous expenses for things the majority of the residents do not believe is necessary is why I got this stupid card. I mean I did not get a card from the vote NO to 200 group at all you know what that means? It means that the support is there, to vote NO, not to vote YES In other words, it is like when you go over your friend’s house and their little dog runs up to you as you come into the door and starts humping your leg savagely. It’s gross and annoying, just leave me alone.

Clowning in Oak Park, IL

Clowns, Clowns and more clowns! LOL This reminded me of this guy who use to call people “Clown freak” when they were acting crazy! So are there actually clowns that are threating to beat kids up as they go to school in Oak Park, IL? Really?

Well, I do not condone violence but it is probably the wake up these kids need to pay attention to their surroundings. Most of the time driving through Oak Park, IL these kids are just walking across the street looking at their phones, hardly paying attention to anything.

Basically, drivers have to pay attention to them, and as adults, drivers we all know that handling an automobile is hard enough. But to be responsible for a bunch of sheltered kids who can hardly walk with intently in a straight line across levels of heavy traffic makes driving even more of a challenge.

So having this alert as bad as it is, has a silver lining at least Oak Park, IL faces the reality that simple streets and cul de sacs do not make the safety net or walls to protect everyone from everyday dangers. Now the little devil sitting on my shoulder is telling me to drive around in clown gear, but I will resist that urge.

But the “creepy clown hoaxes” that are going around the country are totally different than a bunch of punk kids putting clown pictures on their social media sites and threatening to beat people up. Seriously. In other words, people are just getting scared for nothing, psychosomatic bullshit, basically, people being pussies.

This is the article which briefly discusses the clown pussies here in Oak Park, IL:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/oak-park/news/ct-oak-oprf-creepy-clown-tl-1006-20161004-story.html

This is the article I recently posted on twitter that discusses the same event:

PS: A Couple of years ago I met Tim Curry the actor who played Pennywise the Clown in the movie “It” by Stephen King, it was brief but he was very nice. What I am trying to say is that people can wear the clown makeup and clothes and be totally cool.

Racial Profiling in Oak Park, IL part 2

As I was reading this opinion piece regarding racial profiling I looked below at the comment section and got a huge headache. Well, because the spirit of what is wrong with Oak Park, IL just shined on through not like a piercing light but like a nuclear bomb on the ignorance that Oak Park, IL is so entrenched here. My signature eyebrow went up like “wtf?” and I had to post a retort that as of writing this Oakpark.com did not post.

That is alright they can to censor exercises in freedom of speech as much as they want, Oak Park, Il is no longer the gem of the suburbs as it once was and it is due to comments like the one I will mention. This type of comment makes you scratch your head and think “what are they getting at..” but man you already know it is that unspoken confirmation of a fact that you know in your heart is true, and providence has shined a light down from the heavens to confirm its existence.

No, I do not mean the comment about “You’re right. It’s hard to know where to begin..” now there might have been a rash of robberies in the area of Ulta and the person mentioned could be of the same color, therefore everyone in the area is suspicious or on high alert. Does that make it right? No, but I can see why the commentator states what was the cause to this effect. Meaning, what is spring this event, is it because yes all the players are inherently racist and need to be welcomed into the 21st century of social justice and equality or the comment eludes to a narrative of “how do we fix this situation?” When I read this comment I can get with that, kudos to the author of that comment, let us have a positive discussion regarding this social injustice.

However, it is the other comment which drips with the attitude that does not make reading this opinion piece easy: “do you think it’s possible they had a history with this guy that had nothing to do with his race?” Really??? This type of comment makes me wonder how do you get to people who do not understand that this type of mindset is wrong. This is the type of mindset that is everywhere here in Oak Park, IL a type of unspoken community hoping back for the good old 1950’s where every street was as big as your hand, people fell in line with the community’s edicts, and especially fell in line with their “role” in the caste system existing here, presently.

A history? If there was a history with the gentleman being racially profiled in the event, he would be in the squad car, not out in the open, being asked questions by law enforcement. This implication means that he must “have done something wrong” in the past and that is why they are treating him this way now, this is the basis for racial profiling. America is the place where, yeah we gossip like hell on the blogs and rest of the internet about someone (i.e.: cyberbullying) but you are always, always innocent until proven guilty.

This commenter forgot that fact, I cannot speak on this author’s experience with this type of issue, but I bet they have “black friends” as a way to excuse this lapse of self-exposure, how they REALLY think. Unfortunately, it is how a lot of the people in Oak Park, Il think and have gotten away with it for so long, it is really a shame but this type of behavior is why no one wants to be here and the repetition of Oak Park, IL has taken a hit.

It is probably the reason they are asking the residents about diversity -who cares?? Especially if like in this case what is said is here is how the residents really feel, which is in direct contrast of Oak Park, Il’s message of inclusiveness, the message falls upon deaf ears, because no one wants to stay someone where they cannot park their car on a public street, nor get treated equally like their neighbors.

I truly wonder if this commentator has any children that this has happened to, were they followed around a store, where they stopped by police and asked multiple questions regarding their purpose in the area? I wonder if they would change their tune then or would they still state that “you must have a history with him” or “he must have done something wrong” and yes there are parents who say that! But I just wonder if the author f that comment really put themselves in someone else’s shoes would that comment exist, or are they so closed off from this ever changing world they do not see the problem with such a statement?

Here is the article in question, troll as you will:

Pendley, Gabrielle Brady (2016) “Racial profiling is not OK … anywhere” Oakpark.com
