Oak Park, IL related: Travelling down Roosevelt to Harlem Avenue from Des Plaines Ave

Whoa so I was running around from get together to get together and it is bad enough I have to travel through Forest Park, IL to get back to Oak Park, IL but now there are extras to make the traffic issues even worse in which suburbs like that aforementioned busy enough but these two added aspects just make it stupid. Traffic issues there are never really addressed but somehow the local governments like to add to the misery of all those who travel in their suburban streets. And somehow the residents of these suburbs just remain silent as unwarranted changes occur all around them. It seems everyone just grumbles about it however when the opportunities to cause change, such as when election season comes about they vote the same way they did before. And in turn giving those idiots in charge a blank check or an arousing “yes” to doing something even more stupid, one wonders when will change occur and what will be enough?

First, of all there is the construction on Roosevelt Avenue from Harlem avenue to Des Plaines Ave, everything is whittled down to a single lane for a while grinding the traffic down to a crawl. All I can really see the construction crews are doing is redoing the sidewalks on each side with new concrete and red decorative bricks. All this bullshit for something that does not help the traffic issues that plague this street.

Roosevelt and Harlem Avenues, of course, are boundary streets of Oak Park, IL and further, the angry drivers feel as they enter the suburb. As if the small parks with parents who let their toddlers slowly walk across the small narrow side streets isn’t enough now you have drivers who have been pissed off even more to this craziness on the suburban borders. I think that these two suburbs should be more concerned about the traffic issues and finding ways to encouraging people to patron the small businesses in this area. However, all this construction does the opposite.

Second, even though it is the Labor Day weekend, there are a lot of cops in this area particularly, the Forest Park, IL cops who cannot wait to give tickets …just because they are bored. Their added presence is supposed to bring “law and order” which is just code for legal disruption of citizens’ daily activities as they travel from point A to point B. Now everyone knows once normal people see the police all of the sudden people want to do under the speed limit and drive like grandmas.

Which sounds great but at the same time is just as bad as the construction on Roosevelt avenue, and can make your trip three times as long due the presence of law enforcement. As I rolled into the Walmart in Forest Park, IL I did notice that once the cops disappeared on a side street from Roosevelt Avenue that traffic started moving a little bit more smoothly. Instead of directing traffic to overcome the issues of the construction the Forest Park, IL police are always adding to the problem, that is if they are not window shopping in Bed Bath and Beyond.

Here is a possible detour map to miss all this traffic and headache:

Oak Park, Il blog related: Back to school

I am back in school for the time being taking about two classes or I have a full-time schedule for the next two terms, this way I can get done with school get the Masters degree in line with getting done with Oak Park, IL tons of writing means I will probably spend more time in front of the computer instead of outside whiffing in the smells of dog shit and pompous attitudes in the great outdoors.

I might use the extra money and or time to get myself ready for another move and update my furniture to things that are more functional and durable. This way it will not break down either inside just be used or during a move like my four-drawer dresser from Ikea. The movers just turned that thing from a thing of beauty to Frankenstein’s monster in less than a couple of hours. Mind you I waxed and shined that thing for a good 8 months and was very careful in using it.

Now one of the drawers’ outer face is scratched and another drawer is just smashed to pieces. That is why I am dipping into my drinking fund to get it right this time, ha-ha I guess I am “growing up” but I just want to make sure that I am not doubling my expenses just to make the apartment look cute in such a shitty suburb. With that in mind, i am going to max out on Bed Bath and Beyond coupons on the sturdy shit, instead of on candles.

I already took the advice of some of my buddies and looked into Ethan Allen (2k for a dresser!) but I am not that interested in that type of investment unless I am certain I am staying in the state. The amount of taxes that are going into effect especially very soon, like getting a house or a condo less of a sure thing than ever.

Therefore, keeping my head down and getting back into the swing of writing for school to finish that up and also to get back in practice of writing for the blog will be more of my focus …well, unless there is a two for one or free drinks option somewhere. Then I will happily fall off the wagon. Toodles.

Oak Park, IL related: No Lollapalooza for me

I did not go down to Lollapalooza sorry, I am not interested in being around a bunch of underage alcoholics, acting a fool. I rather see the music acts in a concert hall, where such things as alcohol consumption by related individuals can be controlled.

I, in fact, was able to go to bed bath and beyond to do some candle shopping (hide that smoke baby!), at Bed Bath and Beyond and then I went to WalMart to go food shopping. But the difference was, the traffic was flowing, the heightened anxiety that usually accompanies traveling through Oak Park, Il. Therefore, I recommend traveling through Oak Park, Il whenever Lollapalooza is occurring you will be able to properly stop and smell the roses finally in Oak Park, Il.

Oak Park, IL blog related: Forest Park stakeout at Bed Bath and Beyond -just kidding

I had to take this picture of a Forest Park police vehicle left running while the officer was walking around inside. What a great use of Resources and taxpayer dollars, this suburb deserves to be shoulder to shoulder with Oak Park.

While I was in this Bed Bath and Beyond with the cop I was shopping for a Yankee candle I love getting the food scented candles over that Flowery shit it also hides smells and odors that you don’t want guests to be turning their noses up to.  Yeah, that is a shot out to you my 420 buddies! I recommend the sugar and spice, sugar cookie, and anything fucking pumpkin you can get them with the $5 coupon or wait until The end of the candle’s season (pumpkin) to get it cheaper.

Here are some links to the candles I like to mask smells:
