Getting out of Oak Park, IL this summer for fun

Now that sun has been out for while I plan to get out more this year. More downtown and south suburb travelling. Events, getting some sun blah blah, I would look to see what events are happening in the village but the logistical nightmare of parking and travelling through is just depressing. The time and amount of effort it takes one might as well go downtown, downtown Chicago that is. I do not want to be what I complain about and basically be a bitch. But… I rather not be at event in Oak Park, IL dealing with the pretentious village idiots or their spawn.

Unfortunately, we all get to see them everyday as we leave our homes to go to work, the grocery store, etc., and basically that is enough for me. There are a couple of things going on, but who cares? I rather go the Taste of Chicago this year or just hit the beach. I know that seems sassy, and its not a hatred but more like disgust. I know there is something else to go be reading is fundamental. So, I found an article called: “The 55 best things to do in Chicago right now” on TimeOut Chicago.

I believe that this article will help anyone in the area find something to do, that is not in Oak Park, IL. And the list of things to do is great for those who interests vary. In this case instead of complaining, bitch and moan I found a solution to my boredom and disgust of Oak Park, IL. Now I know there might be some maggots who upset me but I think that percentage wise per person of being annoying as hell I think that winner of pissing me off will go to Oak Park hands down every time.

This is the article discussing the 55 things to do in Chicago:

Traffic on Oak Park’s bridges

As I stated before traffic is a huge problem here in Oak Park, IL now unfortunately someone has pay for it with their life. The bridges over the I-290 are nothing to play with. You really cannot even blame the driver in this case when reading what happened it is obvious that someone was just rushing to get home and did not see the car.

These bridges are often hard to navigate, and it is no surprise that this has happened now what to do to remedy this problem, is unknown. I have driven through Oak Park, at different times of the day and because it is so congested, many drivers go above the speed limit while many pedestrians believing that these drivers can see them take a chance walking in front of the aforementioned cars. I have done it in downtown Chicago, but I think because it IS Chicago that my awareness is heightened. Meanwhile in Oak Park, in this shitty little village my guard is let down because one believes the false sense of security that the village impermeates into our brains.

Even it reshapes the entire village there must be changes into the walkways, bridges, streets and sidewalks of Oak Park, IL to sensibly construct a village that can be safely travelled. So that accidents as this will not happen again.

Going to St Patrick’s Day celebrations

Going through Oak Park, IL and the neighboring area for the St Patricks day parade to get to the Blue Line was tough. It seemed like everyone already started drinking or was dumb as shit behind the wheel. And this was early Saturday not Sunday where all the old people in Cadillacs decide to take a Sunday drive or are heading to church for the fifth that day. No, the streets of Oak Park, IL was filled with more than the usual stupid as hell drivers.

But we were able to see the river dyed green have a couple of drinks and see drunk people everywhere. Funny as most of these people are not even Irish but use this as a time to celebrate or get wasted for the day. Although downtown Chicago is a great place to celebrate St Patrick’s Day it is a shame that other suburbs around the city do not embrace it with much fanfare. It could help the local economies especially Oak Park, IL that wants to tax the shit out of everyone for everything expect breathing (not yet)!

Milking holidays from a business and governing stand point is a good way to get the traffic you need in into your small area and boost the local businesses with some quick revenue. But that would be too much like right. Too much like not Oak Park, IL just taxing the shit of out of residents and not really doing anything else to ease the pain of over taxation. But that would be too much like right, oh well, maybe the next holiday.

Magnet for crazy

Throughout the week I always can’t wait for Friday so I can get some peace. Then the weekend is filled with hatred when I try to go outside and enjoy myself because there is some kill joy draining the life out of the fun I am having. They do this by usually interrupting my personal space and once they see they have my attention these invaders think it is alright to start a conversation with me. A conversation that numbs the mind, most of the time it’s about the weather or how nice “it is” I am not trying to say I am antisocial, but bitch I was busy over here!!!!

Nothing works my nerve worse than that. I am in my own zone trying to get some shopping done for lunches throughout the week, and bamm I have an intruder invading my space.

  • “Oh, what’s that?” (people asking about the gelato in my basket)
  • “Is that good?”  (people asking about the “NEW” or newly released item in my basket that has signage that it is new)
  • “This is a nice store….” (not sure if that is a comment or question but obviously it is otherwise I would not be in it).

My point is, that when people are out and about, we know we may have to deal with people. But we would rather not be forced to, because someone else feels lonely or talkative. I am just not wired for the bullshit I guess, but I find this occurring more in Oak Park, IL than say downtown Chicago. It has happened to me in the South, but those individuals started a convo from a distance not by invading my space. Sometimes I just wonder if Oak Park, IL has the largest rude, and intrusive group of individuals residing in its boarders than any other municipality or maybe I am just a magnet for crazy?

Commencement over thank God

I don’t mind having less to do, and met a lot of people at the commencement ceremony include ma pro. The whole thing was a mess and disorganized the fam did not know where to go. There was this dried up little lady hollering at everyone about where to stand. I guess she was faculty or administrative assistant or something but she was a bitch who looked like her Friday nights were pretty much open from here to eternity.

The ceremony was quick as hell lucky because it was cold as shit in that auditorium. There was only one speaker who totally bogus all the other speakers were great. So, this terrible speaker, 1 was not a valedictorian 2 was terrible at…. (drum roll) public speaking. A lot of people were looking at each other rolling their eyes or looking at their phones because he was that bad. Okay the divorce of his parents in freshman year was bad, the fact his mom didn’t have a lot of money for him and his siblings is a common story but complaining about lack of air conditioning was lame as hell. I was seriously like why are we listening to an undergrad crying about no a.c. divorced parents who was a self-admitted non-valedictorian. I was like hold my beer, because I had worst stories when I merely walk out the door.

Then meeting one’s family and friends after the ceremony was crazy and the receptions were salad platters and lemonade. But most people I think did not know that at all. Really a shit show that I merely smiled through, grinned and bared it. But the ceremony was really a reflection of the organization, a contradiction of an institution that wants to focus on social justice, but can’t get the social structure or interactions right.

Field trips for a grade

This dumbest ass class had me going downtown taking time off of work to attend a seminar for the final project. I am thankful that I had a researcher partner find it for me but this program is supposed to be online yet here I am doing interviews taking time off from work to do special projects linked to the courses. The Roosevelt university site has events listed on their site but you can never sign up and register for them. You can try to email the presenter good luck with getting a response though.

Again, this degree plan is supposed to be online, so that I am working adult can go to WORK for a full 8 hours uninterrupted while going to Roosevelt. But that is not the case, I have had to go and pay for seminars, travel costs associated with these “extra” projects and take time off from work. The end result is that there are hidden costs that are never explained when you enroll as they bill these degree plans as online learning when in reality it is a blended instructional method.

Well that is the technical term meaning there is online instruction mixed with other shit that I aforementioned. Other TRUE online schools do 100% of their assignments and activities (drum roll please) ….. Online. None of that going on a field trip shit, like you are some kid who has their rich parents paying for everything and therefore you can spend your day getting lit, and scrapping by in your classes.

“Oh, let’s go on a field trip it will be funnier after we he high” type of shit, in other words. I just cannot wait until this class is over so I and my buddy in crime can put people on blast. You may wonder why because their shitty little end of the class surveys don’t do shit. Therefore, I will vent here too.
