Chicago Cubs opener today!

Monday (today) is the home opener for the Chicago cubs, I know it’s still early in the season but it doesn’t look good for a world series run. Playoffs yes, series no. Much like the chagrin of every Chicago sports fan we have to suffer maybe through another half a decade of mediocrity and bull shit before there is another professional sports team winning a championship. In all seriousness when a news channel focuses on what food is being served at the old ball stadium instead of how the team plays, you know there is a problem.

Note: I said winning a championship vying or competing is another thing it’s like premature ejaculation. However the Loyola ramblers was this year’s “little engine that could” they actually energized the sports scene like no other team in the Chicago area could. In fact I forgot about how badly the Chicago Blackhawks were doing during all the sports coverage they got. Every. Single. Day.

Maybe that explains the second half too much hype, too many expectations  if we had another successful sports team to alleviate all the hype we imposed upon these young men the outcome would have been different.  Now I have to go and say ‘wait til next year’ yeah and the official season hasn’t even started.

Oak Park, IL related: Meijer leaving the area

Now a closing that I am upset about is the Meijer in Melrose Park, just because I do not like to go to the Walmart in Forest Park, Il (it’s fucking ghetto) or the Jewel on Roosevelt (it’s expensive) this store was a welcomed gem in this oasis of pretentiousness. Pete’s is alright but very expensive as well and the aisles are small to the point I am breathing or tasting everyone else’s breath.

The stores that are left do not step up their game and have not felt the reason to do so. Now that Meijer is leaving the area even though it is two suburbs over is was a fantastic alternative to these sloppy expensive stores in Oak Park, Il and in the nearby suburbs. God I will miss their well-lit parking lots that had clientele I was not worried would assault me in some way after shopping for groceries. That is alright I got mace, I will wear my sneakers so that I am ready for giving out some ghetto hoe beat downs.

Here is the article spelling out that bad fucking news:

Oak Park, IL makes one’s soul hurt.

So on Saturday I was with Sarah (the one who stepped in dog shit in a different blog post) and I wanted to take her to Q-BBQ in downtown Oak Park, IL near Lake and Harlem for her birthday. But She lamented because of the traffic, the tight area and how people are generally ignorant about stepping up upon you and in your face. She stated that: “Going through Oak park, makes my soul hurt…”

I literally laughed my at least 3 minutes. It was the funniest line I ever heard about or to describe Oak Park, IL. Anyway, we grabbed some Chinese food on the outskirts of Oak Park, IL in Berwyn, IL instead, I rather see my dollars go to an area that does something for their residents instead of trying to strong-arm them and their tax dollars to pay for some stupid shit (aka the pool).

Yes Ha! Going through Oak Park, IL or even thinking about it makes my soul hurt too, Sarah, yeah me too.
