Telling people about Oak Park, IL

I think I may have introduced a non-internet person to the blog I was getting my hair done, and I was talking to the stylist about where I live you know how that comes up in small talk at a hair salon. The stylist was like “Oh Oak Park nice!” and I had to stop her right there because I am not going to let anyone get hoodwinked by this shitty little village ever again.

I told her that even some of the residents hate it because of the crime and how the village is condensing these developments near downtown Oak Park. Being from Berwyn, IL she thought that the development was great although she would not go into the area because of the traffic. I immediately told her a lot of people in Oak Park, IL are feeling the same way, crushed by the construction, traffic and parking situation that faces people every day in Oak Park, IL.

I told her about the Old Lady on Harvey story that wanted me to move my car and she stated that “they have parking restrictions in Berwyn but it is not THAT bad!” yup. Of course, it is only that bad in Oak Park, IL a shitty little village trying to be a big city in its downtown without the infrastructure, planning or vision to carry this monumental feat off.  I told her about the blog and some of the other stories that I still must write on here, and she told me she is good staying in Berwyn!

Hey, at least I got another converter or person steering clear of Oak Park, IL and all its craziness before it is too late and that is the main reason why, why I started this blog. Go elsewhere but here.

Dreams destroyed: Madison Street is being pimped out in Oak Park, IL

I love how some people are still dreamers here in Oak Park, Il or are selling a dream because to believe that Oak Park, Il wants to connect to the Austin area is just a dream. This article or opinion states they hope that Oak Park, Il will give tax breaks to the small businesses like they do the larger developers however with Taco Bell coming on Madison I do not think that the village representatives are thinking likes this at all. In fact, I believe that the author is well-intentioned is smoking the most powerful shit on the planet to think that Oak park, IL is adhering to the ideals he mentions in this article.

The problem with Oak Park, IL is that you are getting an influx of new characters who want the corporate big names, the convenience and the small village “security” that Oak Park, proposes to have, then oh that name recognition! These new characters want all that but fuck all that historic environmental jazz. Trust me I worked with a new young (under 30) resident who did not care what changes were being made at Harlem and Lake so long as their “condo values go up..” yeah she said that more than once. Then you have the residents in the northern part of Oak Park who are highly residential and do not have an apartment building or business in sight, so they are not affected so they do NOT give a shit.

Which leaves the rest of us fuckers near Madison Ave having to deal with the reconstruction and redesigning of Oak Park, IL but not for the better. Negating everything this author mentions in this opinion piece I wonder if he even lives near the area he is discussing if he is he is surely not awake for all the shit that is going on. And he and everyone else that thinks the way he explains in his opinion piece needs so wake the fuck up.

Increase in Rental rates in Oak Park, IL

It is no argument that renting here in Oak Park, Il sucks the village tries to nickel and dime you for everything as if you own a home here too. However now it seems most rental properties are trying to raise the rental prices in Oak Park, IL LOL and for what??? This is a shitty little village that is getting fleeced out by the minute, half the village that is affected by it is crying a river the other half that is not does not give a shit. But that is okay, charge people sky high prices and they will go elsewhere to Berwyn, Cicero, Oak Lawn, Orland Park, you know better suburbs with better city planning.

With a 9% increase in the rental prices people are no longer looking to come to Oak Park, IL now you may say “who gives a shit” but those are people who would move into the area and spend their dollars at local businesses and buy parking stickers for their cars, you know tax dollars that go to that stupid ass pool at the local school. Now those dollars will go elsewhere, it does not help that Oak Park, IL is losing its mystique as is, no longer the quaint peaceful darling of Chicagoland suburbs with all the development happening around town.

Destroying whatever romanticism, the names of Wright and Hemingway brought to this place now, you have all these factors pushing people out to the point that what really lies underneath the façade of Oak Park, Il really shines through. As a place that you cannot afford, a place of corporate shrills and sellouts, a place that only welcomes you if you are the “right fit” diversity my ass. Oak Park, Il does not want your ass here and it is finally showing it.

This article shows the increase in the Chicagoland area:
