Recreational Marijuana sold in Oak Park, IL -Yes!

I heard there will recreational marijuana sold in Oak Park, IL finally! There is some good news about Oak Park, IL I cannot wait to get some and lite that shit up in the hallways here. The lack of crystal-clear entertainment in the village at least with all the new taxes we are getting as a result of a new state administration we will get something that can calm us all down. With the lack of bars or adult entertainment, I mean the real shit not this “Johnny come lately” and/or “entertainment lite” crap. The lack of growth of an actual outlet for adults, creates a huge market for cannabis, even the most stuck up person, in my experience will be able to relax or better entertain guests.

The vanilla that is Oak Park, IL will get a huge upgrade in the right direction and hopefully the purchases made at the recreational dispensaries will lead to an increase in revenue for local restaurants. So, for example, Seven Point Medical Cannabis Dispensary in downtown Oak Park will bring a ton of extra traffic, physical and economic, that the downtown has not seen in a long time.  I am not sure the village will be able to figure out the parking issues that coming with this gold mine of fun. But then again, the dumbasses that run the village should have planned out the downtown area better to open day incur the growth that is coming and will come in the future.

Of course, the village will be taxing cannabis sales at 3% so the village will be getting something out of the deal, I hope that the local restaurants will be getting some of the excess business due to the munchies the Cannabis customers will have. I know I have tons of friends that will be frequenting the area, the cannabis store, and a lot of the restaurants in the area. Finally, there is a win-win situation in Oak Park, IL

All black + at night + in Oak Park, IL =stupid

Okay before I rant off without any sense or manners, I was out around 10:30 pm on a Friday driving through Oak Park, IL on various streets to get home. Therefore, I was kind of tired, like anyone else who would be after a 40-hour work week and at so late in the night. Okay, now that is out the way… what the fuck?!! Is it me or are some of the residents in this village simply bereft of common sense? What is the deal of walking around or running (for exercise, I guess) at this late at night wearing ALL BLACK on???

Not just walking or running around in all Black gear but also jaywalking or travelling against the light. Meaning if I have the green light as a driver in a thousand-pound metal box, you as the runner or walker should not be thinking:

  • “Hey, I can beat that car”

  • “Oh, they see me even though it is dark as shit because Oak Park, Il has low wattage street lights and I am wearing all black”

  • “If this driver hits me it’s totally their fault and they will have it on their conscience for their rest of their lives”

  • “There’s no crime in Oak Park, IL at night so I am safe to be the only one to walk/run around here in this pitch-black area at night. I’ll be fine”

Fuck no to all of those. I pulled over at different points of my journey back to my apartment from Chicago (which is well-lit) to take a couple of pictures with my phone of how dark it really is in Oak Park, IL after 10:30 pm. Just in case the majority of the village, they can see what the village looks like at this time, as it seems, the majority goes to bed at 8 pm. Like some type of purge curfew, the streets are basically deserted and walking/running around at night in ALL BLACK should be frowned upon.

If these morons get hit by a vehicle we all be outraged right? Yeah unless you know the time of day, who had the right of way and outfit the person who got hit is wearing would you think otherwise. Some people will still disagree unless they are in that situation. I try to be diplomatic when I hear about accidents happening with pedestrians getting hit by a motor vehicle but its times like this that makes me less likely to have sympathy in the near future.

Oak Park, IL’s non-existent night life

Lack of a night life is great for family peeps and the elderly but dont complain about being overtaxed because there is a lack of businesses to help shoulder the support of the financial burdens that the village incurs. The price of having such a community comes high and there is no reason to think it should come cheap. The need for redevelopment and restructuring of the zoning in the village is necessary to commit to the village’s evolution.

Partnering with local area communities is a necessity to encourage growth and welcome needed tax dollars that are merely being withheld or used elsewhere, anywhere that is not here. That lack of grammatical structure notwithstanding. The jist is because there is no nightlife the area is deemed boring and extra coin that could assist residents in paying for other bills or projects that warm the “liberal” hearts of the village’s residents is not being earned.

There is nothing wrong with spots, restaurants, bars, etc., open until 3 am if properly regulated, one does not need to go straight into the metropolitan area to get their kicks. Those who frequent such businesses can stay within the area and patronize it these local businesses and give us in the area a much needed leg up if the village was more welcoming to these businesses in the first place. Until it is this area will just stay known as a boring cultural let down where the favorite pastime after 9pm is sleeping.
