I saved some more photos to a Google Plus collection for public use.
“The Forest Park, IL various photos collection”: https://plus.google.com/u/0/collection/84YWJE
“Construction in Oak Park, Illinois” various photos collection: https://plus.google.com/u/0/collection/wgeVJE
The First collection is my first photo dump of Some of the things in Forest Park, IL nothing really major, just some of the stuff I have talked about in the previous blogs, like FP police, Bed Bath and Beyond, but now including the Repainted Forest Park Circle Avenue bridge next to the Ferrera Pan factory. I took most of the photos travelling through the suburb so they were taken quite quickly, I am just glad they were in focus!
The second one is a photo dump of the Construction near Lake Street and Harlem Avenue, especially near the Marion Avenue side street and adjacent parking lots. Just took a bunch of pictures as I walked through one day onto my way to Jerusalem Café which I talk about in my Yelp reviews.
Again, I took the photos for public consumption use anywhere or anyhow that you may. Bitches.
Whoa so I was running around from get together to get together and it is bad enough I have to travel through Forest Park, IL to get back to Oak Park, IL but now there are extras to make the traffic issues even worse in which suburbs like that aforementioned busy enough but these two added aspects just make it stupid. Traffic issues there are never really addressed but somehow the local governments like to add to the misery of all those who travel in their suburban streets. And somehow the residents of these suburbs just remain silent as unwarranted changes occur all around them. It seems everyone just grumbles about it however when the opportunities to cause change, such as when election season comes about they vote the same way they did before. And in turn giving those idiots in charge a blank check or an arousing “yes” to doing something even more stupid, one wonders when will change occur and what will be enough?
First, of all there is the construction on Roosevelt Avenue from Harlem avenue to Des Plaines Ave, everything is whittled down to a single lane for a while grinding the traffic down to a crawl. All I can really see the construction crews are doing is redoing the sidewalks on each side with new concrete and red decorative bricks. All this bullshit for something that does not help the traffic issues that plague this street.
Roosevelt and Harlem Avenues, of course, are boundary streets of Oak Park, IL and further, the angry drivers feel as they enter the suburb. As if the small parks with parents who let their toddlers slowly walk across the small narrow side streets isn’t enough now you have drivers who have been pissed off even more to this craziness on the suburban borders. I think that these two suburbs should be more concerned about the traffic issues and finding ways to encouraging people to patron the small businesses in this area. However, all this construction does the opposite.
Second, even though it is the Labor Day weekend, there are a lot of cops in this area particularly, the Forest Park, IL cops who cannot wait to give tickets …just because they are bored. Their added presence is supposed to bring “law and order” which is just code for legal disruption of citizens’ daily activities as they travel from point A to point B. Now everyone knows once normal people see the police all of the sudden people want to do under the speed limit and drive like grandmas.
Which sounds great but at the same time is just as bad as the construction on Roosevelt avenue, and can make your trip three times as long due the presence of law enforcement. As I rolled into the Walmart in Forest Park, IL I did notice that once the cops disappeared on a side street from Roosevelt Avenue that traffic started moving a little bit more smoothly. Instead of directing traffic to overcome the issues of the construction the Forest Park, IL police are always adding to the problem, that is if they are not window shopping in Bed Bath and Beyond.
Here is a possible detour map to miss all this traffic and headache:
I remember living in Forest Park, and in every village, town or city you need to buy their funky sticker. Well, this one time I remember I went online to pay for a sticker and waited for a long time. The thing about governments especially local ones is that these idiots have no idea to mesh technology with everyday activities or needs. Therefore, I had the sticker purchased and was simply waiting for the town of Forest incompetent Park to mail me the fucking thing.
Unfortunately, it takes the workers of Forest Park a long time to figure out this thing called the internet, email and all this electronic stuff. Mind you I was recorded in the system as purchasing the sticker in forest parks shitty little computers. So, when the due date came and went I was not worried because hey I purchased the sticker beforehand, I printed off a receipt of the purchase, and of course, anyone working for forest park can see that I did. Well. Not really, so the day came and went.
When I walked down into my apartment building’s private parking lot and low and behold a parking ticket. The ticket was for no sticker at 12:08 am therefore the cops were just patrolling looking for shit to do. Okay, I said to myself I will take off tomorrow and contest the ticket because hey obviously, the cop made a mistake and did not look into the system and see that I bought a sticker, no problem. Therefore, I did my due diligence and scheduled a day off when I got to work to contest the ticket, obviously just a mistake, that is easily solved right?
The next morning, you know the day I took off, was uneventful when I woke up, but when I went to the apartment building’s private parking lot to get in my car to drive down to the town hall, there was a ticket. This ticket was again for no sticker, now I’m pissed. This ticket was issued at 12:05 am, the ticket had the same badge number too. Obviously, this idiot was either getting his numbers for his quota, got a hard on issuing tickets or couldn’t find any midget porn to whack off too.
I grabbed that ticket and get down to fuckin Forest Park city hall to talk to these fucks. The attendant representative whatever behind the desk tells that the tickets were obviously written in error because the system showed I purchased the sticker the town simply had to mail it out. She went to the back to make sure and stated that BOTH tickets were invalid. I noticed a cop was walking back and forth in the background it was probably the same dude who wrote the ticket because he really was interested in what we said.
I asked the rep if it could have been checked in the system she stated that the officer should have checked and knew that the stickers were going out late. Also, she could not explain why I got back to back tickets on back to back days ten minutes after midnight each time. The only explanation after clearing the tickets off my record and dealing with this more than informative attendant I, therefore, came to the conclusion that I was dealing with a broken system in Forest Park and an asshole cop.
When the mail was delivered that afternoon, the sticker arrived, so I went ahead and placed the sticker in the window. Later on, I made an outline sketch of my hand with my middle finger extended and placed it in the window near the sticker. That cemented my decision to leave Forest Park, I really hope that cop enjoyed my drawing.
When you go through Forest Park to get or from Oak Park, IL you enter another type of bland hell. Besides the McDonald’s that is excellent there, Smokin Ms and what was once Defiant comics. There are no real stops, awesome places to hang out in Forest Park (like Oak Park, IL), unless you like cemeteries. There is a fun fact about one of the cemeteries there but that’s for Halloween.
Anyway, I simply drive thru this little shit hole, I lived there for about a year and a half or so I know what I am talking about. You could probably transport dead hookers on the roof of your car at night and you wouldn’t bump into anyone. The town is very quiet, as in dead. Only the cops there are active since they have very little to do. Therefore, you have cops stationing cars at the 7-eleven at Roosevelt Avenue and Des Plaines Avenue and the bank on Roosevelt Avenue and Circle Avenue.
Then you have them just riding around making cop traps waiting for people to do a California roll through stop signs or drivers doing 2mph over the speed limit. Mind you it is not that big a town. The town of forest park is just that, a bunch of bored cops, no engaging nightlife, and another town with nothing cool to do. In one word: Boring. (Did I mention a robust elderly population?) Oh, it also has the CTA Blue Line stop and a ghetto ass Walmart if that’s your idea of fun or excitement, then cool Forest Park is for you. But for me, I will wait about another 50 years.
I had to take this picture of a Forest Park police vehicle left running while the officer was walking around inside. What a great use of Resources and taxpayer dollars, this suburb deserves to be shoulder to shoulder with Oak Park.
While I was in this Bed Bath and Beyond with the cop I was shopping for a Yankee candle I love getting the food scented candles over that Flowery shit it also hides smells and odors that you don’t want guests to be turning their noses up to. Yeah, that is a shot out to you my 420 buddies! I recommend the sugar and spice, sugar cookie, and anything fucking pumpkin you can get them with the $5 coupon or wait until The end of the candle’s season (pumpkin) to get it cheaper.
