Vintage Apartments in Oak Park, IL pt 2 the wiring

What I hate about Oak Park, IL is the apartments and lack of amenities, in this “vintage” shithole being rented out by Oak Park Apartments is one hell of a crazy set up that is still indicative of the time is which the building was constructed. It seems like the building was built in the era between the 1920’s to the1950’s, I mean when you sign the rental agreement they have a waiver that states you do not disturb the paint chips if you see any during your stay because of a threat of lead. In essence, I have ruined the development of any future children I may have by living here, great thanks, Oak Park, IL!

There are a lot of vintage thing is hate while being here, one of the major problems is the electrical setup that is predated before the age of modern technology, like computers and flat screen televisions, probably even ENIAC the computer from the late 1940”s. Yes, I am college educated, so now I am looking at my power strip that has tons of electronics plugged into the one electrical plug in the bedroom I am wondering when is the last time this wiring has been inspected. I mean these walls have more cracks and details than an 80-year-old man’s penis. Therefore, I know that Oak Park Apartments has done very little to update the wiring for safety purposes or check the preexisting wiring for today’s renters.

All this management group has done is got some cheap labor so that they do not have to pay for permits, or union type pay, then had these day laborers paint over the old paint, wipe up the previous tenants’ fluids off the bathroom floor (barely), and maybe, just maybe sprayed for roaches in the apartment before renting it out again to someone like yours truly. Seriously, look at the pictures, the reason I have all these devices plugged into one strip is because there is just one electric plug in the bedroom! Who the fuck has heard of that shit? Obviously, the village of Oak Park, IL does not care either, because there is probably asbestos in the walls too along with the lead and the wiring that Moses himself installed.

Everyone just turns the other way on this type of stuff, (again) obviously so why bother complaining to those who are part of the problem? It’s Oak Park, IL and “we’re artisty and stuck up and shit” who cares if these old buildings are possibly issues waiting to happen and the Hemingway House although built around the early 1900s has better a better electrical system than my apartment?

I pity the poor fool who comes in after me, and has problems with the plugs in this bitch. I am not going to end up a Forensic files story due to the lazy cheap ass apartment management does not know how to get a couple of day laborers rip down a couple of walls and get an actual electrician to put in a couple of outlets while updating the system to current safety regulations. I think they could even do at least one room each time they rent to a new person, and that is very often, besides the bitch upstairs I really do not know many of the people in my building it is like a halfway house instead of an apartment building. Therefore, I want all the electric outlets I can have so that I can add extra light to each room.

So that is a room per year, all the construction and electrical updating can be done in at least seven years. I mean they actually did it for the bathroom all the walls are smooth and the electrical work is up to date, in fact, I have three outlets in the bathroom! Probably, they are hoping my complaining ass plugs in a radio while taking a bath and it “accidentally” falls in. They wish. I just hope someone reads this if the lack of electrical outlets and the threat of old wiring freaks you out well renting here may not be in your best interests. Just FYI.

PS: I have to plug in and disconnect plugs all of the time, during the work week from my curling iron, iron (for my work clothes), hairdryer, etc., it is just a pain in the ass.
